Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at US Bank Stadium at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Over:
✅ The Vikings and Packers have combined to create offensive fireworks in their recent matchups. Three of their last four games have seen them combine for 50 or more points. In their last two meetings in Minnesota, the Vikings and Packers have averaged a combined 71 points per game. With both teams still boasting so much offensive firepower, we should expect another high-scoring affair in Minnesota.
✅ The Packers lost Davante Adams in the offseason, which has stoked fears about their offensive production. But the Packers have Aaron Rodgers, who led them to a top-five finish in yards per pass attempt last season. Wide receiver is one of the more replaceable positions on the field in football, and the loss of Adams is not going to grind the Packers to a halt. They will still do their part to help this game go over.

✅ Last season, the Minnesota Vikings were the most prolific team in the NFL when it came to going over totals. They went 11-6 to the over during the 2021 season, giving them the highest over percentage in the NFL. There is no reason to believe that they will not continue to produce high-scoring matchups as they head into the 2022 season with largely the same offensive attack in place.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers had a great regular season, winning 13 games for the second straight year under Matt LaFleur. But they had a disappointing postseason, losing immediately in the Divisional round at home to the San Francisco 49ers. Here, they look to start another successful regular season off with a win, though they have had anything but an easy time in Minnesota in recent seasons.
The Packers have split their last two games in Minnesota, but their defense has really struggled in both of those contests. Green Bay has allowed 34 points in each of their last two road games against the Vikings. While the focus will be on how the Packers adjust to life without Davante Adams in this game, their defense could be a better indicator of whether or not they will leave the Twin Cities with a win in Week 1.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have been a middle of the pack team with Kirk Cousins as their starting quarterback in recent years. But their offense has had some pop to it, as it finished 10th in the NFL in yards per play a season ago. This season, the Vikings will look to improve their defense to keep up with their offense, and it faces a tough test against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers to start the 2022 season.
While stopping Rodgers and the Packers’ passing attack is a given as a priority for any team playing the Packers, the Vikings’ run defense will be a huge key for them on Sunday as well. Minnesota finished 30th in the NFL in yards per carry allowed last season. If they cannot stop the run, it will not matter how the Packers function through the air in their first game without Adams.
