The NFC East is typically either one of the worst divisions in the NFL or one of the best, without much middle ground. Currently, this division resides as the former, as it is the home to multiple playoff teams, including the reigning NFC champions. Here, we look at the results for the NFC East in 2023 compared to our NFL betting picks for this division.
NFC East Futures Betting Odds
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys defied expectations this season and managed to win the NFC East. They got hot late in the season behind the strength of their defense to overtake the Philadelphia Eagles at the top of this division. We had the Eagles winning this division, but the Cowboys certainly earned the top spot in this group and they will continue to be a threat to win the NFC East for years to come.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles had a lead in the NFC East but fell apart late in the season to blow their shot at another division title. Philly suffered some bad losses this season, including games against the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals, that cost them dearly when all was said and done. There will be questions about this roster moving forward, barring another trip to the Super Bowl.
New York Giants
It was a strange season for the New York Giants this year. Their offensive line was an embarrassment, leading to injuries for multiple quarterbacks, including starting quarterback Daniel Jones. That led to plenty of playing time for Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor, who were by no means worse than Jones. But with the Giants giving Jones a ton of money via contract extension, the Giants might be stuck with Jones anyway.
Washington Commanders
There was a ton of optimism going into this season for Washington Commanders. They had high hopes for quarterback Sam Howell and their defense. But they struggled out of the gate and ended up tanking down the stretch, losing seven games in a row. Now the question is how the Commanders attempt to fix things after making the decision to fire coach Ron Rivera.
2024 NFC East Outlook
Next season should be another two-team race in the NFC East. The Giants and Commanders appear to be committed to two quarterbacks who may not be capable of winning big games just yet. Meanwhile, the Eagles and Cowboys do have quality quarterback options that will put them in the top-half of this division regardless of which one of them comes out on top.
