Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at State Farm Stadium at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Cardinals:
✅ Kansas City ranked in the bottom half of the NFL last year in yards per play allowed, along with yards per carry and yards per pass attempt allowed. They start their season against a Cardinals team that finished in the top-five in yards per pass attempt last season, even with Kyler Murray missing some time due to injuries. Expect the explosive Cardinals passing attack to put together big plays and get keep within a field goal or to win outright.
✅ The loss of Tyreek Hill for the Chiefs is being overblown to some extent heading into this season. But the loss of Tyrann Mathieu is going to be more impactful for Kansas City in 2022. Mathieu’s ability to make plays all over the field on defense for the Chiefs is virtually impossible to replicate. Without him, Kyler Murray’s ability to improvise and break script will be too much for the Chiefs to handle on defense.

✅ Last season, the Arizona Cardinals were a better team against the spread than the Chiefs despite the Chiefs having a better straight up record. The Cardinals went 10-8 against the number, while the Chiefs were a 10-10 team against the spread in 2021. Expect the Cardinals to continue to beat the spread in this game against a Chiefs team that is making some major adjustments on the offensive side of the ball.
Kansas City Chiefs
Last year, it looked like the Kansas City Chiefs would be heading back to the Super Bowl. But they fell apart in the second half of the AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals, coming up just short of their goal of getting back to the biggest game of the year. This season, the Chiefs come into things without Tyreek Hill, and they start their season with a tough road test against an explosive Arizona Cardinals team.
Defense has been the biggest challenge for the Chiefs during the Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes era. And that challenge could get even tougher without Tyrann Mathieu to rely on in the defensive backfield. How the Chiefs perform on defense in this game could be a preview of a season where their defense will either move on nicely without Mathieu or where the team will regret letting him go.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals looked like a Super Bowl contender after the first half of the 2021 NFL season. But an injury to Kyler Murray started a downward spiral that led to them getting trounced in the Wild Card round by the Los Angeles Rams. With Murray back healthy, and a drama-filled offseason behind them, the Cardinals will look to get off to a strong start against one of the best teams in the NFL over the last few years.
It should be noted that DeAndre Hopkins is set to miss this game for the Cardinals as a part of his early season PED suspension. But the Cardinals brought Hollywood Brown in during the offseason, which will help offset the absence of one of the game’s best wide receivers.
