The Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams have both struggled early in the 2022 NFL season. For Carolina, those struggles resulted in them firing their head coach just five weeks into the season. Both teams will be looking for a much-needed victory when they face off at SoFi Stadium in NFL Week 6 action. In our NFL picks for this week, we break down Panthers vs Rams.

Teams Last 10
This game will be played at SoFi Stadium at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
Why Bet The Rams:
✅ There has not been a less productive offense than that of the Carolina Panthers so far this season. They are last in the NFL in yards per game, and they are set to be without Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold in this matchup. With PJ Walker set to take the snaps at quarterback for this contest, things are not likely to improve for the Panthers here.

✅ PJ Walker has not had success as an NFL quarterback. While he was great in the XFL as a member of the Houston Roughnecks, Walker has two touchdown passes to eight interceptions in his NFL career so far. Against a competent Rams defense, Walker will continue to struggle against a Panthers team that is directionless at this point in time.
✅ Carolina is also without a full-time head coach right now, after firing Matt Rhule following their Week 5 loss to the 49ers. They also got rid of their defensive coordinator ahead of this game. The sheer disarray that the Panthers are in right now can only help the Rams, who have coaching continuity and a huge sense of urgency coming into this contest.
Carolina Panthers
Last week, the Carolina Panthers were crushed by the San Francisco 49ers in a 37-15 loss in Charlotte. After that game, the organization decided to part ways with head coach Matt Rhule, whose tenure in Carolina was a disaster from start to finish. Steve Wilks will take over as the team’s interim coach, starting with this Week 6 matchup against the Rams.
Making matters worse for the Panthers is the fact that they will be without starting quarterback Baker Mayfield due to injury. Instead, it is likely that PJ Walker will be the team’s quarterback against Los Angeles. Walker has shown tremendous upside during his time in the XFL, but has yet to translate that to success in the NFL, something he will look to change starting with this contest.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams suffered another disappointing defeat last week, falling against the Dallas Cowboys at home. The defense of the Cowboys took the Rams out of any sort of rhythm from start to finish in that contest, as the Rams dropped to 2-3 on the season. Here, the Rams have an excellent chance to get back to .500 against a Panthers team that is falling apart at the seams.
For the Rams, getting something going on the ground would be incredibly important for this game and beyond. The Rams are last in the NFL, averaging 62.4 yards per game on the ground. While the passing game of the Rams will always be the focal point of their offense, they need to be more well-rounded offensively to fix their issues this season.
