The AFC Championship Game is set for January 19, 2020 as the sixth seed Tennessee Titans travel to take on the second seed Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams have met three previous times in the playoffs with the Chiefs winning two of the three match-ups.
With their win this past weekend the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to their fifth Conference Championship and will be hosting this game for the second consecutive season. The Chiefs have lost two straight Conference Championship games and will look to make the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1969 season.
Thanks to their upset win last weekend the Tennessee Titans will not be playing in their sixth Conference Championship game and their first since the 1999 season. The Titans/Oilers are 1-4 all-time in Conference Championship games with that lone win coming in that 1999 season.
Below is my best bet for the AFC Championship Game between the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs. All lines are from FanDuel Sportsbook
Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5): O/U 51.5 points (-105/-115)
The Tennessee Titans went into top seed Baltimore’s house and made them look like children. For the second consecutive game QB Ryan Tannehill did not reach 100 passing yards, but also for the second consecutive playoff game saw Derrick Henry rush for over 180 yards on the ground. The Titans took a 14-0 first half lead, and then scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, to come away with the 28-12 win over the Ravens. Tennessee is now 7-3 on the road this season with two playoff road victories over New England and Baltimore. The Titans are 11-7 against the spread and the over has hit in 10 of their 18 games this season.
Kansas City dug themselves a 24-0 hole, but scored 41 unanswered points to beat the Houston Texans 51-31. After going down 24-0 the Chiefs scored on a playoff record eight straight offensive possessions. Patrick Mahomes had video game numbers throwing for 321 yards and five touchdowns and also adding another 53 yards on the ground. The Chiefs are now 6-3 at home this season with notable home wins against Minnesota and this past Texans victory. Kansas City is 11-5-1 against the spread and the over has hit in nine of their 17 games this season.
Series History: Tennessee beat Kansas City 35-14 earlier this season, but Kansas City leads the all-time series 27-23.
NFL Pick: I can’t see Tennessee keeping up what they have been doing, so I am backing Kansas City -7.5 in the AFC Championship Game.
