Differences Between Sunday Night Football and Other Games
When betting on Sunday Night Football, there are a few things that make it unique from other night games like Monday Night Football and Thursday Night Football. These factors should be taken into account before placing any bets on Sunday nights. These are just some of the angles that our NFL betting experts think about when placing their wagers for Sunday Night Football.
Normal Rest Amount
The first thing to take into account is that Sunday Night Football is the only standalone NFL game that features a normal amount of rest for the players. With Thursday Night Football, players typically have less rest time than usual, while Monday Night Football features an extra day of rest for teams. But this game allows players to compete on their normal Sunday schedule, which can help teams operate the way they usually do.
Better Teams (Usually)
Something else to keep in mind is that NBC typically gets to select one of the best games on the NFL schedule when crafting their Sunday Night Football schedule for the season. That means better quality of competition between the teams. But it also has implications on betting on Sunday Night Football, as a higher level of competition can mean either tighter games or more pronounced mismatches that must be considered when handicapping this game on a weekly basis.
More Urgency to Bet?
With any night game in football, bettors may feel an obligation to bet on that game more than they do a normal Sunday afternoon contest. But there is no increased obligation to bet on Sunday Night Football, or any other night game on the NFL schedule. Bettors should do the same handicapping that they do for any game, and only wager on Sunday Night Football if there is an edge.
Sunday Night Football Betting Strategies
Strategy is everything when it comes to betting on football, and there is no exception when making Sunday Night Football predictions. Fortunately, our NFL experts make sure to employ their own strategies when recommending bets on Sunday nights, to deliver you the most profitable picks possible on a regular basis. Below are some of the strategies that we use at ATS to make the most of each Sunday night in the NFL.
Don’t Force It
The most important thing a bettor can do when wagering on SNF is to simply avoid forcing action in this standalone night game. It can be tempting to fire off a bet to try and catch up on losses from earlier in the day, or to try to maximize profits. But using those reasons as justifications for placing bets can have a negative impact on a bettor’s bankroll, and should be avoided at all costs.
Instead, bettors should be sure to do their research into each Sunday Night Football game to only make picks that they are confident in. Bettors can be confident that the Sunday Night Football picks we make on this page are approached in such a way, with no action being forced during the season.
Keep Asking Questions
Something else all bettors should do before locking in their Sunday Night Football picks is try to poke holes in all of the information that they see leading up to the game. When you see a specific statistic or betting trend, be sure to put some context behind that trend by evaluating the strength of a team’s schedule or whether injuries impacted that team’s performance. Doing so can help bettors avoid making crucial mistakes when betting on football.
Injuries Are Everything
Injuries are so important when betting on football, and bettors should keep them in mind when wagering on Sunday night’s action. Be sure to keep an eye out for late injury news, even if that is not the most fun thing to do during the late afternoon games on Sunday afternoon. This can also help bettors avoid having expectations that are not aligned with the reality of each team’s situation going into SNF.
