Halftime Show History
The Super Bowl’s halftime shows are world famous. For decades, some of the world’s best and most famous entertainers have taken the stage to perform for tens of millions of viewers. There were always performancesfor the halftime shows dating back to the origin of the Super Bowl in 1967. Oftentimes it was a simple as a college band, but that all changed in the early 1990s. It was Super Bowl XXV in 1991 where a truly popular act first took the stage. That was New Kids On the Block, and that halftime forever changed and elevated the exposure of the Super Bowl halftime show.
New Kids On The Block were followed up in ensuing years by Gloria Estefan and Michael Jackson. This opened the door for popular acts throughout all genres of music to take the biggest stage. Performances since then include but are not limited to Diana Ross, Boyz II Men, Aerosmith, NSYNC, U2, Shania Twain, the notorious “wardrobe malfunction” with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Madonna, and Beyonce.
Last year’s collaboration between Jennifer Lopez and Shakira was a lot of fun. Not to put those ladies down, but the halftime show for Super Bowl LVI could be an all timer.

Super Bowl Lore
Legends are born with Super Bowl success, and that dates all the way back to the game’s origins. Coach Vince Lombardi and quarterback Bart Starr lead the Green Bay Packers to wins in the first two Super Bowls. Those first two wins forever cemented the pair as icons of the sport.
The Miami Dolphins team that won Super Bowl VII remains the only undefeated Super Bowl winner. Of course that statistic comes at the chagrin of Patriots fans, who saw their perfect 2007 season derailed in a truly shocking Super Bowl loss to the Giants. Those Dolphins would repeat as champions the following season.
In the late 1970s, the Steelers became the league’s first true dynasty. Coach Chuck Noll lead them to wins in Super Bowls IX, X, XIII and XIV. Those teams were lead by the vaunted “Steel Curtain” defense and stars on offense like Terry Bradshaw and Lynn Swann.
This lead to the 1980s and the dominance of the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins and New York Giants. Most notable in this period was the Joe Montana and later Steve Young connection with Jerry Rice. The west coast passing attack under coach Bill Walsh was founded in this period. The 49ers won four Super Bowls in this era and were the top team of the period.
The Dallas Cowboys had their best stretch in franchise history in the early 1990s. They won three Super Bowls with the elite offensive trio of Troy Aikman, Emmett Smith and Michael Irvin.
The Denver Broncos won a pair of consecutive Super Bowls in the late 1990s. John Elway won Super Bowls in his final two seasons after losing three throughout his career. Of course running back Terrell Davis had a massive hand in earning those trophies for the Broncos.
Time Of The GOAT
This lead to the turn of the millennium and the ultimate dynasty in NFL history. Quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick lead the Patriots to setting a new bar for what a dynasty can be. In a two decade span, Brady and the Patriots appeared in eight Super Bowls, winning six of them. Brady additionally went on to get his seventh ring with the Buccaneers. There is no longer any argument as to who the greatest of all time is, and it is Tom Brady with no one else remotely in the conversation.

Super Bowl LVI AFC Team – Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals have punched their ticket to the Super Bowl as the AFC representative. The Bengals completed the most unlikely of come back wins in Kansas City to earn the AFC crown. The 4th seeded Bengals beat the Raiders, Titans and Chiefs in the playoffs to earn the right to play in the Super Bowl.
The fourth seeded Bengals went 10-7 in the regular season. which was enough to win the AFC North crown. The Bengals are an extremely young team with an exciting offense, lead by quarterback Joe Burrow. Burrow is the first ever top overall draft pick to lead his team to a Super Bowl within two seasons of being drafted.
Burrow has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal in terms of pass catchers. Tee Higgins, Jamarr Chase and Tyler Boyd form one of the most formidable wide receiver groupings in the league. Joe Mixon is a rock solid and well rounded lead back. Tight end CJ Uzomah truly emerged in these playoffs, but suffered a knee injury in the AFC Championship game. Despite the injury looking ugly during the game, he has a real chance to join the rest of the Burrow weaponry in the Super Bowl.
The offensive line is the shaky part of the offense for the Bengals. That has held true for the entirety of the season, and their play against the front of the Rams may well determine the Super Bowl winner. It should be noted that Burrow has been under duress for a good portion of the playoffs but has found a way to get it done.
Super Bowl LVI NFC Team – Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game to earn the NFC crown. The Rams, like the Bengals are the 4 seed in the NFC. They went 12-5 in the regular season and won the NFC West. Their playoff path to the Super Bowl saw them beat the Cardinals, Buccaneers and the 49ers.
The offseason vision in Los Angeles has truly come to fruition. The Rams traded significant draft capital to the Lions along with Jared Goff to make Matthew Stafford their quarterback. Stafford brought life back to the passing attack and set up Cooper Kupp to have one of if not the best season for a wide receiver in history.
The Rams offense is lead by Stafford and Kupp, but there are multiple other key contributors as well. Cam Akers leads the backfield, and his presence is improbable to say the least. Akers tore his Achilles tendon in camp, and has made a recovery in something resembling record time for such an injury. The Rams also made a move for Odell Beckham Jr, and he has been a key contributor down the stretch and in these playoffs. Working against the Rams is an MCL sprain for tight end Tyler Higbee. He seems less likely to suit up than his tight end counterpart in Uzomah.
The Rams have some big names on defense, and they may be the most key players in this game. Jalen Ramsey will be tasked with covering Tee Higgins and Jamarr Chase, which will be a clash of titans. Up front, Aaron Donald and Von Miller will be tasked with beating the Bengals at the point of attack. In an over simplification, they will need to create sacks and turnovers against an explosive Bengals offense.
