Week 9 of the NFL season is here and the week gets started with a NFC West showdown between the 7-0 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-4-1 Arizona Cardinals. There have been some poor Thursday night games this season, but this one has potential to be interesting with the 49ers high potent offense and the Cardinals inability to really stop anyone.
Heading into Week 9 the San Francisco 49ers are the #1 seed in the NFC, but are just one game up on the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers and are just two games up on the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West. The Arizona Cardinals are currently the #11 seed in the NFC, but can find themselves with a slight Wild Card chance with an upset win Thursday.
Below is my best bet for the Thursday night football action between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals All lines are from PointsBet Sportsbook
San Francisco 49ers (-10) at Arizona Cardinals: O/U 42.5 points (-110/-110)
The San Francisco 49ers remained one of two unbeaten teams with a 51-13 demolition of the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. The 49ers have been dominant since the bye week having outscored four opponents 111-23 and holding three of four opponents to seven points or less. The 49ers have had a weak schedule, as they have just two wins over teams with winning records, but good teams beat bad ones and the 49ers are winning easily over these bad teams. The 49ers are 5-2 ATS and the under has hit in five of their seven games.
The Arizona Cardinals stuck around for two and half quarters, last week at the New Orleans Saints, but Drew Brees and the offense finally clicked midway through the third quarter and Arizona ended up falling 31-9. With the loss the Cardinals three game winning streak came to an end and their record now stands at 3-4-1. Against teams with winning records the Cardinals are 0-4-1 and have been outscored 146-83. Arizona is 5-3 ATS and the over has hit in half of the Cardinal’s games this season.
Series History: The 49ers leads the all-time series 29-26, but the Cardinals have won eight straight meetings between these two teams.
Game Prediction: Big spreads on Thursday’s scare me, especially for road teams, so I am backing Arizona +10, but fully expect San Francisco to remain unbeaten.
