- Buffalo has won five games in a row coming into the playoffs and they are 7-2 at home this season.
- Pittsburgh is without star pass rusher TJ Watt in this game and they will struggle to dig in defensively as a result.
The first game on the Sunday schedule during this NFL Wild Card weekend is Steelers vs Bills from Orchard Park. Buffalo comes into this game as a huge favorite against a Steelers team that made the playoffs as the seventh-seed in the AFC. While Pittsburgh certainly has talent on both sides of the ball, Buffalo should be able to cover the spread in this spot.
Buffalo comes into this game as the hottest team in the NFL outside of the top-seeds in each conference. The Bills have won five games in a row entering the postseason, going from 6-6 and in danger of missing the playoffs to 11-6 and in second place in the AFC. Their reward for doing so was the AFC East title and a home playoff game here, with the Bills entering this matchup at 7-2 at home on the season.
Buffalo’s defense has been the biggest reason for their turnaround. The Bills have allowed 21 or fewer points in four of their last five games, including last week, where they held the explosive Miami Dolphins offense to just 14 points on the road with the AFC East title on the line. Against backup quarterback Mason Rudolph, the Buffalo defense should shine once again in the Wild Card round.
Meanwhile, bettors should not be fooled by Pittsburgh’s three-game winning streak heading into this weekend’s Steelers vs Bills matchup. Pittsburgh beat a Bengals team without Joe Burrow, a Seahawks team that fired Pete Carroll after the regular season, and a Ravens team resting players in Week 18. Their presence in the playoffs was earned, but when put into the proper context, the recent run of the Steelers does not stack up with that of Buffalo.
