Stars vs Generals Betting Pick
This game will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium at 3:00 PM ET on Saturday, June 25, 2022.
Why Bet The Generals:
✅ The Generals have the best rushing attack in the USFL this season, averaging 160.6 yards per game on the ground. They take on a Stars team that is dead last in the USFL in rushing yardage allowed, with Philadelphia giving up 151.2 rushing yards per game. The Generals have crushed the Stars on the ground in their two previous meetings, and will do so again here.
✅ It is worth pointing out that the Stars are only in the playoffs because of how bad the two teams below them in the North Division standings were. The Pittsburgh Maulers and Michigan Panthers were horrific this season, giving the Stars an easy path to the second spot in the North. Against the class of the USFL in the Generals, the Stars will meet their match and bow out of postseason play.

✅ Speaking further to the fact that the Stars do not really belong in the playoffs is the fact that they allowed the third most points in the USFL regular season. Only the Maulers and Panthers had worse scoring defenses during the first season of the USFL reboot. And with the Generals showing they can run all over Philadelphia this season, the Stars are not likely to improve defensively here.
Philadelphia Stars
The Philadelphia Stars finished the USFL regular season at 6-4, finishing three games behind the New Jersey Generals and in second place in the North Division. That was good enough to get Philadelphia into the playoffs, where they enter as underdogs against the New Jersey Generals. For the Stars to have any chance against the team that might be the best in the league going into the playoffs, stopping the run will be priority number one.
In their two meetings this season, including a meaningless Week 10 matchup for both teams, Philadelphia allowed 442 rushing yards to the Generals. New Jersey averaged over 6.2 yards per carry in those two games, with the Stars’ defense wearing down in the second half. If Philadelphia wants any chance to make it to the championship game, they will need to do more to slow down the Generals on the ground.
New Jersey Generals
The New Jersey Generals started the USFL season with a loss to the Birmingham Stallions. Since Week 1, they have run off nine straight victories to move to the top of the league standings. Now, the Generals will march from Birmingham to Canton with the expectation to win this game and play for the USFL championship against the winner of the Breakers vs Stallions matchup. The game plan for the Generals is well known, as they are going to look to eat up chunks of yardage and clock with their ground game. The question for the Generals will be whether they can generate enough passing plays when they need them to keep their drives moving. The combination of Luis Perez and De’Andre Johnson has done a good enough job of making plays and avoiding disastrous turnovers so far, and that will need to continue for the Generals to advance.
