This game will be played at FedEx Field at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
Why Bet The Over:
✅ The Eagles and Commanders have both lit up the scoreboard so far this season. The Eagles are averaging 31 points per game through two weeks, while the Commanders are averaging 27.5 points per contest. Here, these two offenses will combine for at least 51 points as there may not be a lot of stops between the two of them.
✅ Neither defense has been particularly impressive this season, but the Washington Commanders have been outright terrible defensively so far this year. They have allowed 6.6 yards per play this season, tied for the second worst number in the league in that department. They have also given up 29 points per game to the Jaguars and Lions through two weeks. As a result, expect another high-scoring affair.
✅ Carson Wentz is off to a strong start this season, and should be able to match what Jalen Hurts is doing offensively. Wentz has seven touchdown passes so far this season, and will be eager to add to that total against his former team. Expect him to do just that, and for this game to finish with close to 30 points on both sides when all is said and done.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles could not have asked for a better start to the 2022 NFL season. With wins over the Lions and Vikings, the Eagles have already been classified as a threat to win the NFC this year. Thanks to one of the toughest offenses to defend in the NFL, the Eagles will likely be considered a threat to win it all for the majority of this year, but they will need to beat division opponents like the Commanders to remain in such high regard.
For the Eagles, the key to this game is to simply continue what they are doing on the offensive side of the ball. Their rushing attack, combined with the dual threat ability of Jalen Hurts, has caused headaches for opposing defenses already this year. If the Eagles can put up another big number with their offense in this Eagles vs Commanders game, they could be in a great spot at 3-0 in a division that has been weakened by the injury to Dak Prescott in Dallas.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders could not follow up on their Week 1 win, as they were downed by the Detroit Lions in Week 2. Washington struggled to get stops in that game, as the Lions were able to beat them both through the air and on the ground in a convincing performance. Washington will now look to get back above .500 when they face the Eagles at home, but their defense will need to step up for that to happen.
So far this year, only the Miami Dolphins have given up more yards per play than the Washington Commanders. When you consider the opponents that the Commanders have faced, that is worrying to say the least. Here, the Commanders will need to keep Jalen Hurts in the pocket to avoid giving up big plays from his scrambling, and to avoid him being able to improvise with his arm.
