The first ever NFL game in Las Vegas is set for Monday, September 21, 2020, when the New Orleans Saints (1-0) visit the Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) in the Raiders first home game in their new city. Both teams came off solid week one wins, and one team will be thrilled to start this odd season 2-0. This game will air live on ESPN and ABC at 8:15 p.m. EST.
New Orleans had a great 2019 regular season that saw them finish 13-3, win the NFC South, and finish as the third seed in the NFC playoff picture. However, the Saints postseason troubles continued as they lost 26-20 to the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card game.
Las Vegas finished the 2019 season with a 7-9 record, third in the AFC West, and missed the playoffs. The Raiders finished in ninth place in the AFC and missed the playoffs by two games.
Below is my best bet for Week 2 action between the New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders. All lines are from betMGM Sportsbook.
Betting Odds: New Orleans Saints (-5.5) at Las Vegas Raiders: O/U 50.5 (-127/+104)
New Orleans opened their season by hosting, the talk of the offseason, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and came away with a 34-23 win. The Saints were comfortable all game and the result was never in doubt. The real storyline of this game was Tom Brady vs Drew Brees and it was Brees who came away on top. Brees only threw for 160 yards but he had two touchdowns and no interceptions. Brady threw for 239 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Alvin Kamara had 67 total yards, one rushing touchdown, and one receiving touchdown.
The Las Vegas Raiders played their first game in franchise history and they came away with a 34-30 win at the Carolina Panthers. This was an entertaining back and forth game that saw six lead changes in the first half and seven total. The Carolina Panthers took a 34-30 lead with 8:29 remaining, but Josh Jacobs ran it in from six yards out to give Las Vegas the 34-30 lead with four minutes remaining. Josh Jacobs was dominant in this one as the second-year pro totaled 93 yards on the ground, 46 receiving yards, and three rushing touchdowns.
Series History: Las Vegas, then Oakland, won the last time these two teams played, back in 2016, to tie the all-time series up at 6-6-1.
