The New England Patriots and New York Jets are not in the order they traditionally find themselves in when it comes to the AFC East standings this season. The Jets find themselves in second place behind the Buffalo Bills, while the Patriots are at the bottom of a division where the other three teams are all above .500. In our NFL predictions for Sunday, we analyze Patriots vs Jets in a game with huge implications in the AFC East race.

This game will be played at MetLife Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Why Bet The Patriots:
✅ The Patriots have been quietly explosive offensively this season. They are a top-10 yards per play offense to this point in the year, and are averaging more yards per pass attempt than any team in the league going into their Week 7 game against the Bears. Their offense will continue performing at a high level en route to a victory here.

✅ Putting any amount of context behind the recent performances of the New York Jets will not paint a pretty picture for them. Their 5-2 start is commendable, but they have won four straight games against anemic offenses in Pittsburgh, Miami without Tua Tagovailoa, Green Bay, and Denver. Against a much higher quality New England offense, the Jets will regress from the level we have seen recently.
✅ From a line perspective, the Patriots are likely to be heavier favorites later in the week. As long as they go out and take care of business against the Bears at home on Monday Night Football, they will receive more action throughout the week and be favored by closer to a field goal when this contest kicks off. Grabbing them as a 1.5-point favorite is the shrewd move here.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots didn’t just survive the weeks where they had to start Bailey Zappe at quarterback. Instead, they thrived, winning two straight games to get back to .500. They will face the New York Jets after Mac Jones gets his first start since returning to the team post-injury against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 7.
In this contest, the Patriots defense will have another chance to feast on an opponent that has not been all that impressive offensively. After shutting down the Lions, Browns, and (presumably) Bears coming into this contest, the Patriots will aim to shut down a Jets team that just lost its top weapon in running back Breece Hall.
New York Jets
The New York Jets beat the Denver Broncos in Week 7 to improve to 5-2 on the year. But that victory came with a price. Rookie running back Breece Hall is thought to have torn his ACL during that game. Now the Jets will have to figure out a way to keep operating at a high level without one of their most impactful offensive players.
With Hall likely out for the year, Zach Wilson needs to step up for the Jets. In four games this year, Wilson has thrown for over 250 yards just once. He has just one passing touchdown in four games, which came in his first start of the season against the Steelers. If Wilson cannot break his streak of three straight games without a touchdown pass, the Jets could suffer their first loss since his return.
