Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Hard Rock Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Dolphins:
✅ The Miami Dolphins have been vastly superior to the New England Patriots over the last couple of years. They have won four of the last five games played between these teams, and three straight games over the Patriots. Dating back to 2013, the Dolphins have won seven of nine games against the Patriots in Miami, and they will make it eight out of 10 with a win here.
✅ The Dolphins should get better offensively after making multiple key additions at the skill positions. Adding Tyreek Hill at wide receiver is a positive, but their running back additions should help Miami improve on a ground game that finished 31st in the NFL in yards per carry in 2021. Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds will make an impact right away against the Patriots and make life easier on Tua Tagovailoa.

✅ The Dolphins went 9-8 last season, but six of their nine wins came at home. They have a particular advantage at home early in the season, where the hot weather will allow them to force New England to wear their dark uniforms. That combined with their relative level of comfort with the heat in general will help them get off to a good start at home.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots start the 2022 season coming off of a successful 2021 campaign. New England made the playoffs behind rookie quarterback Mac Jones last year, exceeding expectations even if they were blown out in the Wild Card round by the Buffalo Bills. Here, the Patriots will look to overcome a few years of futility against the Miami Dolphins to start their season with a win.
A big question for the Patriots early this season will be how their defense performs after losing several key performers from years past. Jamie Collins, Kyle Van Noy, and Dont’a Hightower are among those the Patriots had on defense in 2021 that they do not have to start 2022. Against a Dolphins team that added to its offensive significantly in the offseason, the Patriots could run into some growing pains in their season opener.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins just missed the playoffs last season, coming up on the short end of a packed Wild Card chase in the AFC. Their offseason was filled with turmoil, as Brian Flores’ departure led to accusations of tanking and discrimination by the organization. Now the Dolphins are through their turbulent offseason, as Mike McDaniel gets set to coach his first game in Miami against one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of the NFL.
For Miami, the biggest key to this game is going to be finding balance on offense. While it will be tempting for them to put an emphasis on Tyreek Hill in his first game as a Dolphin, using Hill as a distraction to open things up for other pass catchers could be a much more valuable strategy as Belichick will likely work to take Hill away above all else.
