Two teams on different ends of the spectrum are on the schedule for Week 15 as the 10-3 New England Patriots travel to Ohio to take on the 1-12 Cincinnati Bengals. The Pats are fighting for the top seed in the AFC while the Bengals look to have the top spot in the 2020 NFL Draft wrapped up.
New England enters Week 15 with a one game lead over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East and sit as the #2 seed in the AFC. The Patriots trail Baltimore by one game, plus lost the head-to-head, for top seed in the AFC and lead the Kansas City Chiefs by one game, but also lost that head-to-head matchup. The Pats have a very winnable schedule remaining and should remain as the #2 seed and earn a first round bye.
There isn’t much to say about Cincinnati as they are 1-12 and have the inside track to the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Bengals have a one game “lead” over the New York Giants for the top pick.
Below is my best bet for the New England Patriots at the Cincinnati Bengals. All lines are from FanDuel Sportsbook
New England Patriots (-10) at Cincinnati Bengals: O/U 40.5 points (-110/-110)
The New England Patriots fell in an early hole and ended up falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-16 last weekend. The loss ended New England’s 21-game home winning streak, including playoffs, as a furious fourth quarter rally came up just short. New England has now lost two straight games, and three of their last five, as the #1 seed is slowly fading away. The Pats are 5-2 on the road this season with their two losses coming at Baltimore and at Houston. New England is 7-6 against the spread and the under has hit in nine of their 13 games this season.
The Cincinnati Bengals fought tough, but ended up falling 27-19 at Cleveland last week. The Bengals were leading early in the second quarter, and it was a one possession game most of the fourth quarter, but could not get over the hump and suffered their 12th loss this season. It looked like Cincy was going to have a winless season, but somehow beat the New York Jets two weeks ago to snap their 0-11 start. The Bengals are 1-5 at home this season. Cincy is 5-7-1 against the spread and the under has hit in eight of their 13 games this season.
Series History: The Patriots have won two straight meetings in this matchup and lead the all-time series 16-9.
Pick: New England -10 is the play here.
