Monday Night Football Pick & Preview – Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans Saints

A big AFC vs NFC matchup is set for Monday Night Football as the 6-7 Indianapolis Colts travel to New Orleans to take on the 10-3 Saints. New Orleans still has dreams of the top seed in the NFC, while the Colts are fighting to stay alive.

The injuries have started to take their toll on Indianapolis as the Colts now seem like a lock to miss the playoffs this season. Just a few weeks ago the Colts were 6-4 and right in the thick of the AFC South race, but they now find themselves in third place in the South and in 10th place in the AFC. The Colts would have the 14th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft if the season ended today.

The Saints have already wrapped up the NFC South, but have some work to do to get a bye in the NFC. Currently sitting at the #3 seed, New Orleans trailed Green Bay for the #2 seed based on best win percentage in conference games and trail the 49ers for #1 seed by one game and lose the head-to-head against them.

Below is my best bet for the Indianapolis Colts at the New Orleans Saints. All lines are from PointsBet

Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans Saints (-8): O/U 45.5 points (-110/-110)

The Indianapolis Colts played a crazy game last week and ultimately ended up falling 38-35 in Tampa Bay. Indy led 35-21 late in the third quarter, but were outscored 17-0 in the final 18 minutes of the game and ended up losing by a field goal. The Colts have now lost three straight games with two of those losses coming by just three points. Indy is 2-4 on the road this season with wins over Tennessee and Kansas City, but notable losses to Pittsburgh and Houston. The Colts are 6-5-2 against the spread and the over has hit in eight of their 13 games this season.

New Orleans was on the short side of the game of the year last week as the Saints suffered a rare home loss to the San Francisco 49ers. In a game that went back and forth the entire time, a Robbie Gould 30-yard field goal as time expired gave the 49ers a 48-46 win. It was an instant classic game, but a result that really hurts the Saints in the NFC playoff race. The Saints are 5-2 at home this season with notable wins over Dallas and Houston, but losses to Atlanta and San Francisco. New Orleans is 8-5 against the spread and the over has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.

Series History: The Saints have won three straight games between these two to take an 8-5 all-time series lead.

ATS Pick: I think the Colts season is over and New Orleans rolls Monday night. Back the Saints -8.
