An exciting Week Six in the NFL ends Monday night with a NFC North battle between the 2-1-1 Detroit Lions and the 4-1 Green Bay Packers. Since 2014 the Packers are 13-14 in prime-time games, but are 10-4 at Lambeau Field.
Below are my three best bets for Monday Night Football. All lines are from William Hill Sportsbook
Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers (-3.5): O/U 45 points scored (-110/-110)
The Detroit Lions enjoyed a bye last week and will now look to get back in the win column after suffering their first loss of the season a few weeks back. The Lions were leading most of the way, but ended up falling 34-30 against the Kansas City Chiefs back in week four. Prior to the Chiefs game the Lions had wins over the Eagles and Chargers and a tie against the Arizona Cardinals. The Lions are 3-1 ATS and the over has hit in three of four games this season.
The Green Bay Packers bounced back from a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and knocked off the Dallas Cowboys 34-24 in Dallas. The Packers are now 4-1 after wins over the Bears, Vikings and Broncos and Cowboys and that lone loss to the Eagles. Green Bay is 4-1 ATS this season and the over has hit in three straight games.
Series History: The Packers lead the all-time series 100-72-7, but the Lions have won the last four meetings between these two.
Game Prediction: The Lions don’t normally show up in these games, but I think that changes this season. I like the lions at +3.5.
Detroit Lions over 20.5 points scored (-108)
The Detroit offense has been pretty solid in three of their four games this season having scored 27, 13, 17 and 30 points against two talented defenses and two pretty poor defenses. The Lions can move the ball on anyone, but punching it into the end zone has been a bit of a challenge this season, so those point totals could have been even more if the Lions could figure out some of their red zone problems. The Packers have been pretty leaky this season giving up 34 and 24 points the past two weeks and the Lions should be able to continue that trend.
Under 68.5 rushing yards for Aaron Jones (-112)
Aaron Jones so far this season has 39, 116, 19, 21 and 107 yards on the ground, so the two outlier weeks really stick out in his total. The Packers are not consistent with Jones’ usage and the Lions are good at stopping the run, so the under 68.5 rushing yards seems like a pretty good bet here. The Lions have given up 82, 66, 53 and 56 yards in their four games played so far this season and if Detroit has any chance Monday night they will have to continue to be tough against the run.
YTD NFL Results: 15-17
