This game will be played at M&T Bank Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Dolphins:
✅ The defensive performances of these two teams were very similar in Week 1, with the Ravens allowing 4.8 yards per play and the Dolphins allowing 5.0 yards per play. But the Dolphins did so against the New England Patriots while the Ravens did so against the Joe Flacco-led New York Jets. Expect Miami to prove that they are superior defensively in this contest en route to a second straight win.
✅ The Baltimore Ravens gained 13 first downs in Week 1 against the New York Jets, which was tied for the second lowest total in the league in Week 1. They only had 63 rushing yards against a Jets team that was one of the worst in the NFL last season on defense. While they won with some margin against the Jets, the offense of the Ravens looked anything but convincing. That will continue here against the Dolphins.
✅ Tua Tagovailoa looked very good in his first game with Tyreek Hill at his disposal. Tagovailoa averaged 8.2 yards per pass attempt and was fifth in the NFL in QBR in Week 1. This came against a Patriots defense that was one of the best in the NFL last season. Expect more of this from Tua, and for him to outplay Lamar Jackson en route to a cover as an underdog.
Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins were 3.5-point favorites going into Week 1 against the New England Patriots, and they lived up to that billing. Miami held the Patriots to just seven points en route to a 20-7 victory at home. Here, the Dolphins face another tough opponent, as they hit the road for the first time on the 2022 season.
While the Dolphins didn’t put up a huge number on the scoreboard in Week 1, they have to like the way Tua Tagovailoa played. He completed just under 70% of his passes against the Patriots, including eight passes for 94 yards to Tyreek Hill. Hill has immediately given the Dolphins another dimension offensively and that will help against a Ravens defense that was untested in Week 1.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens also won in Week 1, beating up on the hapless New York Jets by a 24-9 margin. It is hard to get a feel for how the Ravens really played in that game, given that they were up against Joe Flacco and one of the league’s worst teams from last year. This will be a much better test for the Ravens as they play a Dolphins team that has shown early that they could be a playoff caliber team.
For the Ravens, finding some kind of offensive consistency will be huge against the Dolphins. Lamar Jackson is capable of great things when at his best, but he failed to complete 60% of his passes against the Jets while the Ravens rushed for 3.0 yards per carry as a team. Those numbers will not be good enough to beat the Dolphins.
