An all Florida affair is on display for Thursday Night Football as the Miami Dolphins (0-2) visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1) on Thursday, September 24, 2020. Both teams have been frisky this season and this could be a better game than people expect. This game will air live on NFL Network at 8:20 p.m. EST.
The Miami Dolphins offense has not clicked yet this year and the defense has been leaky at times. Through two games the offense is putting up 19.5 points and 352.5 total yards, 259.5 passing and 93.0 rushing. Defensively, Miami is allowing 26.0 points and 450.0 yards, 286.0 passing and 164.0 on the ground.
Jacksonville games have been entertaining so far this season as the offense is clicking and the defense is not. The Jags offense is putting up 28.5 points and are averaging 384.0 yards, 256.0 through the air and 128.0 on the ground. On defense, Jacksonville is allowing 26.5 points per game and 406.5 yards, 301.0 passing and 105.5 rushing.
Below is my best bet for Week 3 action between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars. All lines are from BetMGM Sportsbook.
Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars (-2.5): O/U 45.0 (-115/-105)
Miami hosted the Buffalo Bills in week two and fought hard, but ultimately ended up falling 31-28. This was a back and forth game, and Miami led early in the fourth quarter, but 14 unanswered Bills points saw Buffalo come out victorious. The Dolphins were led by Ryan Fitzpatrick, who threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns, and Mike Gesicki who had eight receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. Miami has now lost to the Bills and Patriots by a combined 13 points.
Jacksonville followed up their surprising week one win with a tough 33-30 loss at the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars trailed 24-10 at the half, and 30-17 heading into the fourth quarter, but Gardner Minshew led the Jags to 14 unanswered fourth quarter points to tie the game up. Tennessee ultimately won with a Stephen Gostkowski 49-yard field goal with 1:36 left. Minshew was electric in this one as he threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns, as well as two interceptions, and running back James Robinson led the way with 102 yards and one touchdown on 16 carriers. Jacksonville will be disappointed with the result, but happy with the fight the team showed.
Series History: Jacksonville has won two consecutive meetings between these two and now leads the all-time series 5-4.
NFL Picks: I am going to back Jacksonville -2.5 in this one.
