Chiefs vs Chargers kicks off NFL Week 2 on Thursday night. Frankly, this is one of the most fun divisional matchups across the NFL, and we should get some fun offense in this game.
The Chiefs started 1-0 with an absolute decimation of the Cardinals in Week 1. The Chargers also started the year off right, notching a narrow victory over the Raiders last week. Of course it is still early in the season, but first place in the division and all important tie breaker status will be on the line in this one.
The Chiefs are set as a 4 point favorite. The expectation of a Chiefs win can only be a good thing for top running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
We will have you covered for player props on all of the prime time games this season.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Player Prop Bet
The Chiefs notched a dominant win last week, and Edwards-Helaire (CEH) was a huge part of growing that lead early in the game. He racked up 84 total yards on just 10 touches, and scored twice as a pass catcher. His state broke down to seven carries for 42 yards and three catches on three targets for 32 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
You might ask if there are overall volume concerns for CEH, and that is certainly a fair question. The truth is, the game was so in hand, so early for the Chiefs, CEH essentially only played a half last week. Once the blowout was on, the Chiefs decided to get work for rookie backup running back Isaih Pacheco. If we are just box score scouting and not watching the game flow, it would appear as if Pacheco out touched CEH, but that was not the case when the game was at all in question. That game script and subsequent usage seems to have gotten us a pair of attractive props on CEH for Thursday Night.
Edwards-Helaire looks to be in line to be a true lead back, used considerably in both the running and passing games. The 10 touches he received were essentially just 50-60% of what the expectation should be. The yardage props seem to have that slightly baked in on the rushing, but not at all on the receiving.
For week 2, CEH’s rushing prop is 47.5 yards and his receiving prop is 14.5 yards.
This is a very rare scenario where a back with a complete skill set and role has both their rushing and receiving props set far too low. We saw the pitfalls that can come with taking one or the other on Monday night. Javonte Williams was highly involved, but did so much of his damage as a pass catcher, he fell slightly under his rushing prop. We are going to double up on Edwards-Helaire on Thursday night with overs on both his rushing and receiving props. This game will not be a blowout like we saw last week. CEH will play both halves and notch production. I truly believe we are looking at a split at worst on the two bets, and that would require all of his production to come via only one of rushing or receiving. The most likely scenario is cashing a pair of tickets.
