Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium at 8:20 PM ET on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
Why Bet The Chargers:
✅ These teams have been very evenly matched over the last couple of seasons during the Herbert vs. Mahomes era of their rivalry. Over the last two seasons, the Chargers and Chiefs are 2-2 against one another, with both teams going 2-0 on the road. The Chargers have beaten Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium twice in a row, and lost at home in overtime twice over that span. They will keep this Chargers vs Chiefs game just as close as they have the others behind Justin Herbert.
✅ Kansas City destroyed the Arizona Cardinals to start their season on Sunday, but bettors should not overreact to that result. The Cardinals were decimated by injuries going into that game, and were without Deandre Hopkins due to suspension. Expect a much more challenging affair for the Chiefs here, as they are facing a Chargers team that is largely healthy and going to be able to compete with them all over the field.

✅ One reason this game will be tougher for the Chiefs than their Week 1 game is the pass rush of the Chargers. Led by Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, the Chargers racked up six sacks against the Raiders in their season opening affair. The Cardinals, on the other hand, sacked Patrick Mahomes zero times. Increased pressure on Mahomes will make this a much tighter contest than the one the Chiefs enjoyed in Week 1.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers started their season with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders, getting revenge for their Week 18 loss to them last season. Justin Herbert came out and played at a high level for the Chargers, completing 26 of his 34 pass attempts for 279 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Here, Herbert will need to be just as sharp as the Chargers look to hang with the explosive Kansas City Chiefs offense.
Perhaps more important, though, will be the defense of the Chargers. Los Angeles’ defense came through against the Raiders, holding them to just 19 points and under 6.00 yards per play. The Chargers accumulated six sacks in Week 1, and will need to continue to get pressure on the quarterback if they want any shot of slowing down Patrick Mahomes after the way he opened his season.
Kansas City Chiefs
In Week 1 of the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs may have played the best complete football game of any team in the league. In a week where a lot of teams struggled offensively, they put together a 44-21 beatdown of the injury ravaged Arizona Cardinals. Here, they play a much healthier team that is much more familiar with their style of play. But the Chiefs come into this game favored as they look to pick up their first division win of the 2022 season.
This will be the first real test for the Chiefs defense this season, after they pushed the Cardinals around on Sunday. Justin Herbert has quickly joined Patrick Mahomes as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. But the Chargers were held to 76 rushing yards on 31 carries in Week 1, for an average of 2.5 yards per carry. If the Chiefs can stifle the running game of Los Angeles and force them into predictable passing situations, they could take this game at home and move to 2-0.
