Types Of Golf Bets We Make
Our golf betting tips span a number of different golf betting markets. Everything from outright picks to prop bets will be covered here on a weekly basis. Continue reading for more information on the types of wagers that bettors can be expect from us before every golf tournament.
Outright Winner Bets
The most common type of golf betting tips that bettors will see here are our outright picks to win each golf tournament. This type of bet lets bettors choose who they think will win each event on the PGA Tour schedule. They typically come at nice plus prices, as winning a tournament requires golfers to beat the rest of the field.
Top 5, Top 10, and Top 20
In some cases, we will recommend a betting on a golfer to finish in a position other than winning a tournament, from the top-5 all the way to the top-20. The odds for these bets are not as favorable as picking someone to win a tournament. But they give a little bit of a safety net for a golfer to have a great tournament even if they do not finish at the top of the leaderboard.
Head to Head Picks
Sportsbooks will often post odds for head to head matchups for larger golf tournaments like The Masters, and even some of the less heralded tournaments on the PGA Tour. With these markets, one golfer is placed up against another for either one round or an entire tournament. It is then possible to bet on which golfer will have a better score over that time period.
Over/Under Bets
Over/unders are often synonymous with betting on sports like football and basketball, but it is also an option in golf. In golf betting, over/under bets allow bettors to wager on whether the number of strokes from a golfer in a round will go over or under the number set by sportsbooks going into that round. These bets can be very exciting, as how a golfer chooses to play one shot can be the difference between a win and a loss.
Golf Prop Bets
There are other types of golf betting that we recommend at times throughout the year. Prop bets on whether or not a golfer will make the cut at a tournament or whether a hole in one will happen during a round are often available throughout the year. When we see value in those types of golf bets, we will include them in this space.
Golf Tournaments We Make Predictions For
We provide golf betting picks for tournaments throughout the year, from the biggest events on the PGA Tour schedule to some of the smaller events on the golf schedule. Here, we look at the types of golf events that our best bets cover.
Major Tournaments
The four major tournaments are the most watched events in golf. The Masters, US Open, PGA Championship, and Open Championship are the most prestigious events in the sport, and our best golf bets feature these events prominently. The Masters are especially popular, thanks to the tradition of the course and the memorable moments over the years, with Augusta National being among the most famous courses on the planet.
Other Tournaments
Outside of the big four tournaments, our golf betting advice features action from the rest of the PGA Tour schedule as well. Marquee events like the Waste Management Open, Players Championship, and other tournaments are covered here, even if they are not a part of the big four in golf.
Golf Betting Strategy
Golf betting strategy can be different than the strategy used in other sports. Each golf tournament is so different, and golf bets have to adapt to those differences. Here, we have a few strategic tips that can help with winning at golf betting.
Identifying Course Strengths and Weaknesses
What makes each golf tournament different than betting on other sports is that each golf course is different. Unlike basketball or football, where the playing surface has the same dimensions, golf bets have to take course dimensions into consideration. Bettors have to analyze which competitors have the best chance to win on each course to win each bet that they place.
Understanding Unpredictability
It is rare for a golf tournament to be won by the pre-tournament favorite, thanks to the unpredictable nature of golf itself. One bad shot or one great shot can be the difference between a tournament win or sliding down the leaderboard. For that reason, it is often worth looking at golfers with longer odds to win each tournament.
Responsible Betting
More important than anything else is the fact that golf betting should be done responsibly. Setting aside a specific budget for betting and not changing that budget based on previous results is the best way to ensure that each bet is fun, win or lose.
