Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at SoFi Stadium at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
Why Bet The Jaguars:
✅ The Los Angeles Chargers are dealing with a quarterback injury situation heading into this game with Jacksonville. Justin Herbert suffered fractured rib cartilage in the team’s Thursday Night Football loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. Even if Herbert does play, he will not be at 100% for this contest, which will negatively impact the Chargers’ passing attack.
✅ Even with a healthy Herbert, the Chargers have been a middle of the pack offense in terms of yards per play this season. They are actually 0.1 yard per play worse than the Jaguars have been so far this season. While the Chargers should be able to win this game no matter who plays at quarterback, the Jaguars are better than people think at this stage and should be able to keep things competitive.
✅ Chargers games have gone under the total in each of the first two weeks of this season. Los Angeles has scored 24 points in each of their first two games, despite the rave reviews that Justin Herbert has received. A low-scoring game relative to expectations will only help the Jaguars keep this game within a touchdown.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars got their first win in 2022 when they beat the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 24-0 in Week 2. Jacksonville was excellent on defense in that game, holding the Colts to 218 total yards and intercepting Matt Ryan three times. Here, the Jaguars will likely need a similar defensive performance to put a scare into the heavily favored Chargers.
Pressure on the quarterback is going to decide how this game goes for the Jaguars. With Justin Herbert dealing with an injury, getting hits on him could really impact how effective he is. Whether it is Herbert or Chase Daniel out there for the Bolts, Jacksonville’s defensive front must put some heat on the quarterback to give themselves a chance to win this one outright.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers could not hang with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. They allowed Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to pull away in the second half, with Justin Herbert picking up a rib injury in the process. Now, the star quarterback for the Chargers is questionable as his team looks to get back above .500 for the season.
If the Chargers were smart, they would consider benching Herbert for this Jaguars vs Chargers game, just to give him some extra time to heal. If they do not choose to do that, the pass protection of the Chargers will be absolutely vital to prevent him from taking additional hits that could exacerbate his injury and negatively impact the entire season for the Chargers.
