Why Bet The Texans vs Jaguars Under:
✅ Both teams likely won’t come out looking to set the world on fire in this contest. A loss would be very advantageous for either team, as it would put them in the pole position for second in the upcoming NFL Draft. Combine that with the sheer ineptitude of both teams offensively this season, and the under seems like a solid play here.
✅ Davis Mills has been named the starting quarterback for the rest of the season for the Texans. Mills is averaging 6.4 yards per pass attempt on the season, which is somehow better than the 5.9 yards per attempt Trevor Lawrence has mustered this year. To contextualize how bad both quarterbacks have been, Jordan Love averaged 6.3 yards per attempt in his limited action this season backing up Aaron Rodgers.

✅ Over the last three weeks, the Jaguars and Texans are 31st and 32nd in the NFL in yards per play gained offensively. Jacksonville has averaged a miserable 4.2 yards per play, while the Texans have been even worse at 4.0 yards per play. Even against bad defenses, we should see some serious ineptitude on both sides when it comes to moving the ball.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans were competitive in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks, but were demolished in the second half. They fell 33-13 in that game, dropping to 2-11 on the year and further confirming that the playoffs will not be a part of their future. This week, the Texans look to pick up a win against a team they beat to start their season in the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Of course, things are a lot different for the Texans than they were in the first week of the season. For starters, Davis Mills is their quarterback now instead of Tyrod Taylor. Mills has been historically inept this season for the Texans, who have been held under 10 points six times in 13 games. Here, simply avoiding a third shutout on the season might be seen as a moral victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars were shut out last week, losing 20-0 to the Tennessee Titans on the road. Over the last two weeks, the Jaguars have been outscored by a combined 57-7, which is certainly not going to help them build a winning program moving forward. To make matters worse, chemistry issues surrounding head coach Urban Meyer continue to persist, as the Jaguars coach continues to look like a poor fit for a professional football team.
There have been reports of Meyer clashing with both players and coaches in his own building, which has led to speculation on whether or not Meyer should remain the coach of the team long-term. And while all of that is being sorted out, the play in the field is clearly not improving under Meyer’s tenure in Duval County.
