This AFC East matchup may be a crucial one, which is rare to say this early in the season. The Bills started their season on a low note, losing at home to the Steelers. The Dolphins on the other hand, won at the Patriots and could put some real distance between them and the rest of the division, albeit early in the season. With the Patriots and Jets likely not being realistic contenders in the AFC East, a Miami win and a two game lead plus the tiebreaker for the Dolphins would be as much as any team could hope for through two weeks of play.
Dolphins vs Bills Betting Pick
This game will be played at 1PM EST on Sunday, September 19th 2021 at Hard Rock Stadium.
Why bet the Dolphins?
✅ The Bills did not pick up where they left off in 2020, at least not offensively. The high end Steeler defense bottled them up and held them to just 16 points in that home game. The schedule certainly does not soften for them, as they have to travel for a divisional road game against another of the league’s premier defenses. There will have to be adjustments, and more importantly rhythm to be found if they are to avoid a similar outcome to last week.
✅ Every offseason report was a complimentary one of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. While it was a low volume slow paced game in Week 1, it was easy to see why. Tagovailoa made key throws and was quite effective getting the ball to his wide receivers. Both Jaylen Waddle and Devante Parker were productive on limited opportunity, and that is a testament to Tagovailoa. He will have more opportunity this week as the Phins will likely have more success passing than they will running, and the matchup is a bit of an easier one this week.
✅ Last week, the Dolphins defense looked every bit the unit that ascended to the top of the league in 2020. They allowed just 16 points and were opportunistic with two key takeaways. We saw the Bills offense is certainly not matchup proof and the Dolphins will look to continue to hold down the Bills offense from getting back to 2020 form. This is likely not the week for the Bills, but looking ahead to their Week 3 matchup with the Football Team, we could see the Bills exploit that secondary.
