An AFC West battle is on the schedule Sunday as a team that is currently the class of the division welcomes what is, potentially, their biggest future challenger in the division. Week 15 brings us the 5-8 Denver Broncos visiting the 9-4 Kansas City Chiefs for the 120th meeting between these two.
The Denver Broncos enter Sunday in third place in the AFC West and in 11th place in the conference. Broncos brass has to be wondering what their season could be looking like if they did not start Joe Flacco to start the season. If the season ended today the Broncos would have the 11th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Kansa City enters play having just wrapped up the AFC West division title and are right in the thick of the AFC playoff bye race. The Chiefs sit just one game back of the New England Patriots for the #2 seed, and two games back of the Baltimore Ravens for the #1 seed, having the head-to-head advantage over both of those teams.
Below is my best bet for the Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs. All lines are from Points Bet Sportsbook
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5): O/U 45.5 points (-105/-115)
The Denver Broncos won their second consecutive game with an impressive 38-24 road win over the Houston Texans. Rookie QB Drew Lock, in just his second career start, went 22-27 for 309 yards and three touchdowns in a great showing by the Denver offense. Denver has now won three of their last five games and have a good chance at finishing the season at 7-9 after such a poor start to 2019. The Broncos are 2-5 on the road this season with their two wins coming over Houston and the Los Angeles Chargers. Denver is 8-5 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.
The Kansas City Chiefs hung on for dear life and ultimately came away with an impressive 23-16 road win over the New England Patriots. Kansas City led 23-7 midway through the third quarter, but needed an end zone stop with under two minutes remaining to secure the big road win. The Chiefs went through a slump midway through the season, going 2-4, but have rebounded nicely by winning three straight games against conference opponents. Kansas City is a surprising 3-3 at home this season with wins over Baltimore, Minnesota and Oakland, losses to Indy, Houston and Green Bay. The Chiefs are 8-5 against the spread and the over has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.
Series History: The Chiefs have won eight straight meetings, including a 30-6 win earlier this season, and now lead the all-time series 64-55.
NFL ATS Pick: I think this one is close most of the game, but KC wins by two touchdowns late. Back Kansas City -9.5.
