Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at MetLife Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Ravens:
✅ Lamar Jackson is back at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens to star this season, which will give the Ravens a huge boost. The Ravens went 7-4 in games where Jackson threw at least five passes in 2021. With him back on the field, the Ravens will be more explosive both through the air and on the ground, which will help Baltimore win big here.
✅ The Jets had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season. They finished in the bottom-five in the NFL in yards per play allowed, yards per pass attempt allowed, scoring defense, and takeaways. They should take some steps forward this season, but their young additions on defense will take time to get up to speed at this level of competition. Expect the Ravens to pick on a Jets defense that needs more time to develop.

✅ Baltimore comes into this game with a 9-2 advantage in the all-time series against the New York Jets. Seven of the Ravens’ nine wins over the Jets have come by a touchdown or more, including their 42-21 win over the Jets in 2019. Expect another resounding victory for the Ravens in this series here, as they are better positioned to perform on both sides of the ball in Week 1.
Baltimore Ravens
Last season, the Baltimore Ravens fell apart in the second half of the season. Lamar Jackson got hurt, and the Ravens could not hold things together in his absence, leading to a last place 8-9 season for John Harbaugh’s squad. This season, Jackson is back and the Ravens are expected to be one of the better teams in the AFC as a result.
This will be the first game for Jackson and the Ravens without Hollywood Brown since he moved onto Arizona. Brown was one of Jackson’s favorite targets, and it will be intriguing to see how Jackson and the Ravens offense functions without him. But with Jackson’s ability to make plays both through the air and on the ground, the impact of Brown’s departure should not be earth shattering.
New York Jets
The New York Jets went 4-13 last season, finishing with the second worst point differential in the NFL at -194. New York’s AFC representatives were abysmal offensively, ranking 28th in scoring offense in Zach Wilson’s first year as their starting quarterback. This year, Wilson comes in with more experience and will look to lead his team to more production on offense, starting with Week 1 against the Ravens.
In addition to the Jets’ need to get better in possession of the ball, their defense also needs to improve starting this week. No team allowed more points per game last season than the Jets, and Robert Saleh’s team tried to address their porous defense in the draft with players like Sauce Gardner. If the Jets can provide more resistance to opponents on defense, it would make things easier for Wilson and the offense as well, though they may not be built to slow down Lamar Jackson just yet.
