A game that looked much better a few weeks ago should still be exciting to watch as the Atlanta Falcons (0-3) visit the Green Bay Packers (3-0) on Monday, October 5, 2020. Atlanta has now blown two double digit fourth quarter leads in a row and Green Bay looks like Super Bowl contenders. This game will air live on ESPN at 8:15 p.m. EST.
The Atlanta offense has not been the issue this season, for three quarters at least, as they are averaging 30.0 points per game and 430.0 yards, 320.3 through the air and 109.7 on the ground. Defense has been the problem for the Falcons as they are allowing 36.0 points per game and 475.7 yards, 362.7 passing and 113.0 rushing.
The Green Bay offense has been the best in the league early in the season as they are averaging 40.7 points per game and 467.3 yards, 295.7 passing and 171.7 rushing. The defense has been good enough as they are allowing 28.3 points per game and 378.7 yards, 263.7 through the air and 115.0 on the ground.
Below is my best bet for Week 4 action between the Atlanta Falcons and Green Bay Packers. All lines are from BetMGM Sportsbook.
Odds: Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers (-7): O/U 57.5 (-110/-110)
The Atlanta Falcons play the same games every single week; get up big and blow it in the end. With their 30-26 home loss to the Chicago Bears, the Atlanta Falcons became the first team ever to lose two games in one season when leading by 15+ points in the fourth quarter. Atlanta led this game 26-10 entering the fourth quarter, but Nick Foles came in for Chicago at QB and led the Bears on three scoring drives to get the win. Matt Ryan threw for 238 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and Calvin Ridley hauled in five balls for 110 yards on the day. It must hurt to be an Atlanta Falcons fan.
The Green Bay Packers visited the New Orleans Saints, in a fun Sunday Night Football affair, and came away with a huge 37-30 victory. This game was back and forth all night as neither team led by more than 10 points the entire game. New Orleans led at the end of the first quarter, at the half, and were tied at the end of the third quarter, but a 10-3 fourth quarter gave Green Bay the win. Aaron Rodgers threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns and Allen Lazard hauled in six receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown. Aaron Jones rushed the ball 16 times for 69 yards and one touchdown. The Green Bay offense totaled 369 yards and did not turn the ball over, while the defense held New Orleans to 397 yards and forced one Saints fumble.
Series History: Green Bay won the most recent meeting between these two and leads the all-time series 18-16.
