Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Levi’s Stadium at 4:05 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The 49ers:
✅ Week 1 was a gross misrepresentation of both the Seahawks and the 49ers. Seattle won outright at home in an emotional game against their former starting quarterback. San Francisco, meanwhile, lost on the road in disastrous field conditions that did not suit their offense’s style at all. Back in the Bay Area for this game, the Niners will look more like the Niners, while the Seahawks will look much worse than they did in Week 1.
✅ Even with the results being what they were in Week 1, the 49ers were vastly superior to the Seahawks on defense in their season openers. The Niners gave up an NFL-best 3.6 yards per play in their opener against the Bears, while the Seahawks gave up 6.8 yards per play at home against Denver. The Niners will be better on both sides of the ball here, but their defense will carry the day for them in a get right spot for the home team.
✅ San Francisco managed to dominate time of possession against the Bears even in a road loss in Week 1. The Niners had the ball for 33:28 against Chicago, despite their inability to move the ball with any sort of regularity in the wet conditions at Soldier Field. Barring another rain saturated field at home on Sunday, the Niners will be much more effective with their possessions against Seattle.
Seattle Seahawks
Week 1 was an emotional one for the Seattle Seahawks, as they hosted Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos to start their season. Seattle got off to a good start behind new starting quarterback Geno Smith, and managed to hold on despite several red zone trips for the Broncos in the second half. Seattle took advantage of two goal line fumbles and a missed field goal late in the fourth quarter from the Broncos to move to a surprising 1-0 on the season.
Here, things are going to be much different for the Seahawks, as they are in for a tougher test on the road against a division opponent. The Seahawks could be in for an emotional letdown, in addition to having to play on the road for the first time this year. How Seattle responds to both of those things will be key in determining how this Seahawks vs 49ers game goes.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers were not able to overcome the weather at Soldier Field as their offense could not get in gear against the Chicago Bears. The Niners scored just 10 points and were outperformed by Justin Fields and a Chicago offense that was one of the worst in the NFL last season. Here, the Niners face an urgent situation, as a second straight loss would put them behind the eight-ball in an NFC West that is supposed to be loaded with quality in 2022.
For the Niners, the key to this game is going to be the performance of Trey Lance, who was incredibly underwhelming in Week 1. Lance completed under 50% of his passes in the rain in Chicago, and failed to break 6.0 yards per pass attempt in that loss to the Bears. If he can straighten things out in more pleasant weather this week, the Niners will be able to breathe a sigh of relief after questions about Lance’s ability to be a starting quarterback after their opener.
