Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at AT&T Stadium at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Over:
✅ Yes, Dak Prescott is out for the Cowboys for the foreseeable future after suffering a thumb injury in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. But Cooper Rush is a serviceable backup that should help the Cowboys do their part in reaching this total. Rush helped the Cowboys to beat the Minnesota Vikings in his lone start last season, averaging 8.1 yards per pass attempt in that game. He will help the Cowboys get up around 20 points to help this game go over.
✅ We will see a better offensive performance from the Bengals in Week 2 than we saw in their opener against Pittsburgh. The Steelers were able to get after Joe Burrow for most of that game before T.J. Watt got hurt. The Cowboys do not have as threatening a pass rush, which will help this game go over the total as Burrow will have more time to connect with his receivers.
✅ Burrow’s turnover numbers will also be better in Week 2 than they were last Sunday in Pittsburgh. He was turned over five times in Cincinnati’s overtime loss to the Steelers. That was an anomaly for Burrow, who will be better against a Cowboys defense that forced just one turnover against the Buccaneers at home on Sunday.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals did not do much to dispel the Super Bowl hangover allegations levied against them before the 2022 NFL season started. They lost in overtime to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home, kicking off their AFC title defense incredibly poorly. This week, the Bengals have a chance to pick up their first win of the season against a Cowboys team led by Cooper Rush instead of Dak Prescott.
In Week 1, the defense of the Bengals performed adequately, giving up 20 points to the Steelers in regulation. But the offense of the Bengals was too sloppy with the football, committing a league-high five turnovers in the opening week of the season. If they can tone down the turnovers in this contest, they should be able to register a win against a quarterback deficient Cowboys team.
Dallas Cowboys
Going into this Bengals vs Cowboys matchup, the Dallas Cowboys could not have had a worse opening week to the NFL season. They not only lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, but they also lost their starting quarterback for the next month or more. Dak Prescott suffered a thumb injury that will force Cooper Rush into the starting role at quarterback, and make things much harder for the Cowboys in the regular season.
With Rush in at quarterback, the defense and running game of the Cowboys will be even more important than usual. The problem with that is that the Cowboys were unimpressive on the ground against the Buccaneers, gaining just 71 rushing yards in that contest. With the Bengals better able to focus on the run in Prescott’s absence, the Cowboys may have a hard time picking up yardage with their rushing attack to make the life of Rush a little easier.
