Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field at 8:30 PM ET on Monday, September 19, 2022.
Why Bet The Vikings:
✅ The Eagles won against the Lions to start their season, but they were not great defensively by any stretch of the imagination. They gave up 5.8 yards per play to the Jared Goff-led Lions, and they really struggled to stop the run, allowing 6.5 yards per carry. The multi-faceted offense of the Vikings will give the Eagles trouble, possibly even more than Detroit did.
✅ Philadelphia converted 10 third downs in Week 1, the most of any NFL team on opening week. But they also had the second most third down attempts, as they faced more third downs than every team but the Cleveland Browns. Against a tougher defense this week, the Eagles will pay for having so many third downs to deal with offensively.
✅ Everyone always makes sure to mention Kirk Cousins’ struggles in night games, but Jalen Hurts has not been great in his own right. He has started one Monday Night Football game in his career, throwing two interceptions and sporting a QBR of 12.5 against Dallas last year. Cousins will not be perfect in this game, but neither will Hurts against a tough opponent.
Minnesota Vikings
It was a dream start to the 2022 NFL season for the Minnesota Vikings. They clamped down on the Green Bay Packers with incredible defense, holding the reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers to just seven points. Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson proved that he belongs in the best wide receiver discussion in the NFL, going off for 184 receiving yards in a convincing victory for Minnesota.
In this game, the Vikings will have to flip the priorities of their defense from where they were on Sunday against Green Bay. While the Packers love to hurt teams through the air with Aaron Rodgers, the Eagles are at their most dangerous on the ground. Green Bay rushed for 6.2 yards per carry against the Vikings in what few carries they did amass, and the Vikings will need to be better against a heavier volume of running plays.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles held onto beat the Detroit Lions to kick off their 2022 NFL campaign. Philadelphia held a multi-possession lead for most of the game, only to allow the Lions back within a field goal late. While the Eagles will be happy to start their season with a win, there were certainly some things the Eagles could have done better.
Run defense was the area where the Eagles were the worst on Sunday against Detroit. Philadelphia let the Lions rack up 181 rushing yards, including 144 from D’Andre Swift. Against a Minnesota rushing attack led by the dangerous Dalvin Cook, Philadelphia has to be better against the run to go to 2-0, while not losing sight of the weapons in the Minnesota passing game.
