Seton Hall vs UConn Betting Pick
This game will be played at Madison Square Garden at 9:30 PM ET on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
Why Bet On UConn:
✅ Seton Hall is playing for a second straight night, while UConn is coming off several days off after last having played on March 5. The better team in this game is UConn, and the fact that they are the more rested team on top of that will give the Huskies an advantage in this quarterfinal matchup.
✅ Seton Hall has won six straight games heading into this matchup, but some context is required heading into this game. The Pirates have struggled twice against Georgetown over that stretch, including in yesterday’s first round game. UConn should be able to take care of business here against a Seton Hall team that is not as good as the standings have indicated.
✅ UConn is an excellent rebounding team, ranking in the top-20 in rebounds per game on the season. Their bigs, led by Adama Sanogo, should control the boards in this game as they so often do. They will be able to limit second chance points and, just as importantly, give themselves second opportunities to score.
Seton Hall Pirates
The Seton Hall Pirates advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament, though it was not easy as it could have been. Seton Hall was favored by 10 points against a Georgetown team that went winless in Big East play this season. But the Pirates ended up beating them by just four points, allowing Georgetown to hang around for the second time in a week.
Against UConn, Seton Hall is going to have to figure out how to get points in the paint despite the rim protection of the Huskies. Adama Sanogo averages over two blocks per game for the Huskies, and is capable of changing shots at the rim on a regular basis. Seton Hall will need to either get him in foul trouble or use some sort of misdirection to move him out of the way.
UConn Huskies
The UConn Huskies enter the Big East tournament as the third seed in the conference. They are a top-25 team heading into the tournament, and their status as an NCAA Tournament team is not in doubt whatsoever entering this week at Madison Square Garden. But the Huskies can improve their seeding with a run through one of the most prestigious tournaments in college basketball.
UConn could be well set up for a deep tournament run this year, as they have a legitimate closer in RJ Cole, and a great rebounder and rim protector in Adama Sanogo. Against Seton Hall, look for both of them to make an impact that Seton Hall will not be able to overcome in the quarterfinals.
