Why Bet On Auburn:
✅ Miami was more or less gift wrapped their first round game against USC thanks to the Trojans’ terrible first half. The Trojans turned the ball over in the paint over and over again, which allowed the Hurricanes to get a bunch of run out baskets that they will not get against Auburn in this matchup.
✅ There just isn’t anyone on Miami who can prevent Jabari Smith from playing at his highest level in this matchup. Smith had 20 points and 14 rebounds in the first round of the tournament. And while he is unlikely to put up another massive double-double against Miami, he should easily get close to 20 points again to pace Auburn in this contest.

✅ Miami converted on 7% of their three-point shots against USC in the first round of this tournament. As mentioned earlier, they would be at home right now if not for an 18-3 turnover advantage on Friday. They will not win the turnover battle that convincingly in this game, which will exacerbate the shooting woes of the Hurricanes.
Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricanes won a truly strange game in the first round against the USC Trojans. They took a big lead in the first half, forcing turnovers and getting easy buckets. But Miami barely held on, winning on some late free throws in a 68-66 victory that has set up this matchup with the second seeded Tigers. To win again in this tournament, Miami will need to be more dangerous from the perimeter.
Miami should have beaten USC by double figures in the first round based on their +15 turnover advantage. While a win is a win, it is a little concerning that they let USC charge back into that game after owning all of the momentum for the bulk of the afternoon. They cannot afford to be that vulnerable to a big run against the Tigers here.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn had an easy afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, dismantling Jacksonville State in a 3 vs. 14 contest. The Tigers dominated the glass in that game, collecting 50 rebounds to just 32 for the Gamecocks. In this game, the rebounding margin will undoubtedly be tighter, which Auburn will need to overcome to move into the Sweet 16.
The Tigers will also look to be more efficient from three-point range in this contest, after shooting 37.5% from long range in round one. Getting on the right side of 40% would provide them a huge lift in what will be a tougher matchup than the one they faced on Friday, though doing so is easier said than done.
