Three teams are looking to win their first Big 12 conference championship while another is looking to start another streak in the Big-12. Baylor (6-0), West Virginia (4-2) and TCU (4-2) are all looking to win their first Big-12 conference championships while Kansas is looking to win their 19th regular season conference title. TCU can’t win on the road, so I am not considering them in this conversation, but I do think Baylor, Kansas and West Virginia could be an entertaining race till the end.
Odds to win Big 12 – as of 1/26/2020 (odds via Draft Kings)
- Baylor +150
- Kansas +225
- Texas Tech +500
- West Virginia +500
- Texas +2000
- Oklahoma +2200
- Oklahoma State +3000
- Iowa State +3300
- Kansas State +5000
- TCU +5000
Baylor sit undefeated in conference play and are the top ranked team in the country, so seeing them at +150 is pretty surprising. The Bears already beat the Jayhawks, in Lawrence, so if they take care of business in the home rematch they should be fine – barring a collapse. Baylor still have to go to West Virginia and TCU, but get to host Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and West Virginia, so it is a pretty favorable schedule home/road wise.
Kansas will always remain one of the favorite to win the Big-12 and this year is no different. It will be a little more challenging this year, thanks to their loss to Baylor, but never count out Bill Self. The Jayhawks still have to go to Baylor, Texas Tech, West Virginia and Kansas State this season, so it will be a tough road to regular season title 19 for Kansas.
West Virginia has a very slim chance of winning the conference title, but with two games against Baylor, and a home game against Kansas, they are still very alive in this race. The Mountaineers also have to travel to Texas Tech, TCU, Texas and Iowa State, so it would be a big shock if West Virginia do come out on top at the end of the regular season.
I am going to go with the Bears to win the Big-12 regular season title this season, so give me Baylor +150.
