#7 Duke Blue Devils at North Carolina Tar Heels

The best rivalry in sports is on the schedule Saturday February 8, 2020 as the #7 Duke Blue Devils (19-3 overall 9-2 in ACC) travels down to Tobacco Road to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (11-10 overall 3-8 in ACC). These two teams are having drastically different seasons, but this rivalry is always entertaining.

Duke enters this weekend in second place in the ACC, but just one game back of Louisville in the loss column. The ACC as a whole is pretty bad this season, but the top three teams are all top 10 in the nation and will make this a battle until the end of the season. The Blue Devils are tied with Florida State at 9-2 in the conference. Duke would be the second seed in the East according to Joe Lunardi’s latest Bracketology.

North Carolina is having their worst season in quite some time and find themselves third from the bottom of the conference, but could be tied for last with a loss this weekend. Unless they win the conference tournament North Carolina will miss out on the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010.

Below is my best bet for #7 Duke at North Carolina. All odds are from Bet Online.

#7 Duke Blue Devils (-6.5) at North Carolina Tar Heels: O/U 149.5 (-110/-110)

Duke ran their winning streak to four games with a tough 63-55 road win at Boston College mid-week. The Blue Devils trailed late in the second half, but went on a run with less than five minutes to go to come away with the win. Duke is 6-1 on the road, 12-10 against the spread and the over has hit in 15 of their 22 games this season.

North Carolina fought hard, but ultimately fell 65-59 at #8 Florida State to lose their second straight game. The Tar Heels led early in the second half, but could not keep up with the talented Florida State team and ultimately ended up suffering their 12th loss this season. North Carolina is just 5-6 at home, 8-14 against the spread and the under has hit in 12 of their 22 games this season.

Series History: These two teams have met 251 times in the past and it is North Carolina who leads the all-time series 139-112. UNC has won three of the last four meetings between these two old rivals.

Prediction: I would normally take the points in this one, but not this year, give me Duke -6.5.
