#21 Butler Bulldogs at #15 Creighton Bluejays – Big East Basketball Odds, Preview & Pick

The game of the Big East weekend takes us to Nebraska as the #21 Butler Bulldogs (19-8 overall 7-7 in Big East) take on the #15 Creighton Bluejays (21-6 and 10-4) on Sunday February 23, 2020. Butler have seen their Big East regular season title hopes slip away, but Creighton is just one game behind leaders #16 Seton Hall.

Butler enter play ranked 21st in the country, but currently sit in sixth place in the Big East standings. The Bulldogs are four games back of league leaders Seton Hall, so with just four regular season games remaining Butler is all but eliminated from that race. According to Joe Lunardi’s February 21, 2020 Bracketology, Butler would be a #6 seed in the Midwest region and would play #11 seed Cincinnati in the first round.

Creighton is one of the hottest teams in the Big East at the moment and have found themselves climbing up the polls to #15. With their recent surge the Bluejays are also just one game back of league leaders Seton Hall with Creighton hosting Seton Hall to end the regular season in a few weeks. Creighton would be a #3 seed in the South region and would host #14 seed Hofstra.

Below is my best bet for #21 Butler at #15 Creighton. All odds are from PointsBet.

#21 Butler Bulldogs at #15 Creighton Bluejays (-5.5): O/U 139.5 (-110/-110)

Butler led for the first 30 minutes of the game, but a Sandro Mamukelashvili buzzer beater gave #16 Seton Hall the big 74-72 road win. It was a very entertaining last 10 minutes and even with the loss Butler showed they are going to be a problem come the Big East tournament. Butler has now lost three of their last four games, and four of six, and will also look to improve on their 4-5 road record this season. Butler is 13-12-2 against the spread and the under has hit in 15 of their 27 games this season.

Creighton went on the road to #19 Marquette and came away with a comfortable 73-65 win. The Bluejays took a 10 point lead into the half, and led by as much as 13 points in the second half, to leave Wisconsin with a win. Creighton has now won four games in a row, and eight of their last nine games, as they look to use their 14-1 home record to push them to another victory on Sunday. Creighton is 16-9-1 against the spread and both the over and under have hit in 12 of their 26 games with a total this season.

Series History: These two schools have met 16 times in the past and it is Creighton that holds a 10-6 advantage. Butler has won three of the last four meetings between these two teams.

Prediction: I think Creighton stays hot and wins, but I like Butler +5.5 spread wise.

YTD College Basketball Results: 6-6
