Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Caesars Superdome at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Saints:
✅ The Saints have had the upper hand over the Buccaneers since Tom Brady took over as the quarterback in Tampa Bay. New Orleans is 4-1 over the Buccaneers in the five games these teams have played since 2020, with their lone loss coming in the playoffs when Drew Brees’ arm was shot once and for all. Here, the Saints will improve to 5-0 in regular season games against the Bucs during the Brady era.
✅ Neither team was particularly impressive in Week 1, as the Buccaneers beat a Cowboys team that held them under 20 points despite Dallas’ offensive issues. New Orleans struggled against the Atlanta Falcons as well, but they fought back nicely in the second half to pick up a win. With the Saints at home in this game, they should raise their level, while the Bucs are in an unenviable position playing a second straight road game.

✅ Jameis Winston avoided turning the ball over in his return to the field for the Saints. He threw two touchdowns and did not have any interceptions or fumbles against the Falcons. Whether his laser eye surgery before last season really helped him, or if he’s just improving as a quarterback, his reduced turnover numbers will help against a team like the Buccaneers that can make opponents pay for poor decision making.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The first Sunday Night Football game of the year was filled with hype, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Dallas Cowboys. And while the Bucs won that matchup, the game absolutely did not live up to that hype. A lot of that was a product of the Tampa Bay defense, which held the Cowboys to just three points and injured Dak Prescott along the way. Now the Bucs look for a second straight win on the road to kick off the year against the rival Saints.
In this Buccaneers vs Saints game, the Bucs will be tested on both sides of the ball, but the defense of the Buccaneers will really need to step up to stop the Saints. New Orleans had 151 rushing yards on just 19 carries against the Falcons in Week 1, and Tampa’s run defense will be tested for the second week in a row. After the Bucs held the Cowboys to 71 rushing yards on Sunday night, it will be anything but easy for Tampa to perform that well for a second straight week.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints got off to a slow start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1, but they turned things around in the second half to win by a point. New Orleans scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, including a game-winning field goal in the final 20 seconds, to avoid being upset on the road. Now, the Saints look for a win in their home opener to open the season with a 2-0 record.
If the Saints are going to pick up a second straight win to start this season, they are going to need Alvin Kamara to do more than he did in Week 1. Kamara was held under 50 total yards against the Falcons, as the Saints were led in rushing by Taysom Hill. If the Saints can’t get Kamara going in Week 2, their job will be much tougher than it needs to be against a Bucs team they have had success against.
