This game will be played at MetLife Stadium at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Giants:
✅ The Giants had a huge game on the ground in Week 1, averaging 7.4 yards per carry. Carolina, meanwhile, allowed 5.6 yards per carry to the Cleveland Browns at home. Saquon Barkley looked as good as he has looked during his time as a pro in the Giants’ season opener, and he will help the Giants pick up a second straight win here against the Panthers.
✅ Baker Mayfield was awful against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. If you take away his 75-yard pass to Robbie Anderson on a blown coverage in the fourth quarter, he had 160 passing yards for the rest of the game. Against a Giants team that did a nice job of slowing down the Titans on third downs, Mayfield will continue to struggle as the starting quarterback of the Panthers in Week 2.

✅ The Carolina Panthers were a miserable road team last season. They went 3-6 on the road. And while they did that with Sam Darnold as their quarterback, the Panthers haven’t really upgraded at quarterback this season with Mayfield. Expect the road woes of the Panthers to continue with this game, even against a Giants team with a heap of flaws of their own.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers will head into this Panthers vs Giants matchup with an 0-1 record, after a truly bizarre loss to the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland was in control for the majority of that game, but the Panthers mounted a comeback over the final six minutes of action to take the lead with around a minute and a half to go. Carolina then proceeded to allow Jacoby Brissett and the Browns to work the ball down the field for a game-winning field goal to undo all of the hard work they did to come back.
In this game, the Panthers simply need a more consistent performance from Baker Mayfield to avoid an 0-2 start. Mayfield’s lone touchdown pass in Week 1 came on a blown coverage down by two scores. If he cannot help the Panthers do some scoring before they need a frantic comeback, an 0-2 start could be on the horizon.
New York Giants
The Brian Daboll era in New York has begun with a win. The New York Giants came back from a multiple possession deficit to beat the Tennessee Titans in the final minutes of action, going for two successfully to earn a 21-20 win on the road. The Giants were bailed out by a late missed field goal by Randy Bullock as time expired, but the resolve of the Giants has to be commended in that game.
Also commendable was the work of Saquon Barkley, who finally looked like the running back the Giants hoped they’d have when they drafted him second overall. Barkley rushed for 164 yards and gave a second effort on the deciding two-point conversion that was very impressive. Given that the Panthers struggled against the run against the Browns in Week 1, another game like that from Barkley is well within the realm of possibility here.
