This game will be played at SoFi Stadium at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Chargers:
✅ The Los Angeles Chargers had one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL last season, gaining 5.9 yards per play. That was good for the third best mark in the league, and there is no reason to think they will take any steps backward in this game or this season. Justin Herbert comes into this year getting MVP buzz, and he will lead the Chargers to a statement win at home in a revenge spot against the Raiders.
✅ The acquisition of Davante Adams for the Raiders will not be as impactful in this game as it will be in the future due to the pass rush improvements made by the Chargers. Khalil Mack joining Joey Bosa up front will give Derek Carr less time to throw than he had against the Chargers last season. That means less time for Adams and the rest of the Raiders receivers to get open, which gives the Chargers a big time edge here.

✅ It is also worth pointing out that the Raiders have downgraded at head coach this offseason. Josh McDaniels was a disaster in his first head coaching tenure with the Denver Broncos. There is no reason to believe this time will be any different with the Raiders just because he went back to the Patriots for some image rehabilitation in between.
Las Vegas Raiders
Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders overcame a number of off-field issues to make it to the postseason. The poor decision making of Jon Gruden and Henry Ruggs left the Raiders without two key members of their team, but Rich Bisaccia stepped in as head coach and helped them get to the playoffs anyway. This season, Bisaccia is gone, and Josh McDaniels is the new head coach in Las Vegas for better or worse.
Outside of the decision to ditch Bisaccia for McDaniels, the defense of the Raiders is going to be what determines how this team does in Week 1. The Raiders made a ton of changes to their defense in the offseason, letting a lot of defensive line talent go. Against a Chargers team that will pick you apart if you do not get pressure on Justin Herbert, this could be a game where all of those changes come back to haunt Las Vegas.
Los Angeles Chargers
This year, expectations are high for the Los Angeles Chargers, even though they were unable to beat the Raiders to make the playoffs in Week 18 a season ago. This Chargers team has one of the top young quarterbacks in the league in Justin Herbert, plenty of skill position talent around him, and a defense that is shaping up to be promising. This game against the Raiders will be a great litmus test for this team as it looks to prove it is a legitimate contender in the AFC.
In the Chargers’ loss to the Raiders in Week 18, the Chargers doubled the passing yardage of the Raiders, and outgained them by 94 total yards. But the Raiders outperformed the Chargers on the ground by a 174-85 margin, which was a huge difference maker in that season defining contest. The Chargers will need more from Austin Ekeler to win this game, as he had just 64 yards in that crucial Raiders vs Chargers game.
