Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Allegiant Stadium at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Why Bet The Raiders:
✅ Unlike last week, we are going to see the Raiders’ offense with some time to throw the ball. The fearsome Chargers pass rush registered six sacks against Las Vegas in Week 1, while the Cardinals failed to register a sack against the Chiefs. With some time to throw, we will see Derek Carr take better advantage of his weapons than he was able to in his team’s opener.
✅ Kyler Murray was not good in Week 1, averaging just 5.7 yards per pass attempt against a Chiefs defense that lost its best player in the offseason in Tyrann Mathieu. It was clear in Week 1 that Hollywood Brown is not a suitable replacement for the suspended Deandre Hopkins, and that Murray still has some work to do to be among the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
✅ There were some baffling comments made by Kliff Kingsbury about how the Cardinals need to improve their practice habits after this loss. This may have been a shot at Kyler Murray and the study clause that was put into, then taken out of, his contract. But it is also incredible to hear those comments from the head coach, who should be able to adjust his team’s practice habits as the top authority regarding on-field matters for a team. The Cardinals appear to be in disarray at the moment, and that will continue here.
Arizona Cardinals
Things could not have gone much worse for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 of the NFL season. They were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs, giving up 44 points and five touchdown passes to Patrick Mahomes. The Cardinals allowed an average of 7.4 yards per play in that season opening game, which was the worst mark in the league among all 32 teams after the first week of the season.
In this game, things might not get any easier for the Cardinals on defense against a Raiders team with so many offensive weapons. While Derek Carr is no Patrick Mahomes, the supporting cast around Carr is just as good and that could cause real problems for a Cardinals team that is in real danger of dropping to 0-2 here.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders also lost the first game of their 2022 NFL campaign. They fell behind 17-3 at halftime against the Los Angeles Chargers, with their fourth quarter comeback attempt falling just short. For the Raiders, not having to deal with the Chargers’ pass rush this week will be something they are thankful for, as the Raiders gave up six sacks to the group led by Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
This week, the Raiders take on a Cardinals defense that failed to get a sack on Patrick Mahomes last week. With extra time to throw, Derek Carr will have more time for routes to develop from Davante Adams and Darren Waller, who combined for 220 receiving yards against the Chargers. If Carr can get Hunter Renfrow more involved along with Adams and Waller, it could be a long day for the Arizona defense.
