Texas vs Oklahoma Odds, Pick & Prediction – 10/10/20

The Red River Showdown is set for Saturday, October 10, 2020, when the #22 Texas Longhorns (2-1, 1-1) and the Oklahoma Sooners (1-2, 0-2) battle it out in Dallas. This game lost a lot of its flare with both teams struggling to start the 2020 season. Oklahoma is now unranked for the first time since the 2014 season and lost back-to-back games for the first time since 1999. This game will air live on FOX at 12:00 p.m. EST.

Through three games, the Texas offense has been rolling with them averaging 51.0 points per game and 517.7 yards per game, 326.3 through the air and 191.3 on the ground. Defensively, the Longhorns are allowing 30.7 points and 379.0 yards, 250.7 passing and 128.3 rushing.

The Oklahoma offense is averaging 37.7 points and 513.0yards, 390.3 through the air and 122.7 on the ground. Defensively, the Sooners are allowing 25.0 points and 317.3 yards, 232.3 passing and 85.0 rushing.

Below is my pick for the #22 Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. All odds are from BetRivers Sportsbook.

#22 Texas Longhorns vs Oklahoma Sooners (-2.5): O/U 70.5 (-108/-112)

For the second consecutive week Texas let the underdog hang with them, but this time it cost them as the TCU Horned Frogs upset Texas 33-31. TCU led 23-14 midway through the third quarter, and 26-21 early in the fourth quarter, but Texas fought back to take a 29-26 lead with just under 10 minutes left. TCU QB Max Duggan ran for a 26-yard touchdown with four minutes left to give the Horned Frogs the lead for good. Texas QB Sam Ehlinger was 17/36 for 236 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in the loss. No Longhorns running back, or wide receiver had more than 70 total yards against TCU.

Oklahoma visited the Iowa State Cyclones, last weekend, and fell 37-30. This game was back and forth all night as Oklahoma led after the first and second quarters and Iowa State leading after the third quarter and at the end. The biggest lead of the game was Oklahoma by 11 and Iowa State never led by more than seven points. Iowa State secured the win with a Breece Hall 8-yeard touchdown run with 4:06 remaining in the game. Sooners QB Spencer Rattler went 25/36 for 300 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and added an additional 20 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Running back Jeremiah Hall hauled in five passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns.

Series History: Oklahoma has won two consecutive meetings between these two, but Texas still leads the all-time series 62-48-5.

CFB Picks: I like Oklahoma -2.5 in the Red River Showdown.
