South Alabama at Troy Betting Odds, Pick & Prediction

Week 8 of the College Football season gets started Wednesday with the “Battle of the Belt” rivalry between the South Alabama Jaguars and the Troy Trojans. This new rivalry started back in 2012 when South Alabama’s football team officially joined the Sun Belt and the two have played every season since.

Troy won the first two games of this series, 31-10 and 34-33, but South Alabama quickly tied it back up with a 27-13 win in 2014 and a 24-18 win in 2015. Troy retook the series lead in 2016, with a 28-21 win, but South Alabama tied it back up with a 19-8 victory two seasons ago. The Trojans will now look to take another two game lead in this series with a win Wednesday night.

Below is my pick for the Wednesday night College Football action between South Alabama and Troy. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.

South Alabama at Troy (-15): O/U 55 points (-110/-110)

South Alabama’s terrible start to the 2019 season continued two weeks ago when they were handed their fourth straight loss, and fifth of the season, after falling to Georgia Southern 20-17. The Jaguars have now lost to then #24 Nebraska, Memphis, UAB and Louisiana-Monroe while only being able to defeat FCS Jacksonville State. USA averages just 149.0 passing yards per game and are averaging just 17.2 points per game.

The Troy Trojans are looking to snap their two game losing streak and will look to get their first conference win of the season Wednesday night. Troy has a win over FCS Campbell and at winless Akron while suffering close losses to South Mississippi and Arkansas State. The Trojans are coming off a 42-10 drubbing at the hands of the now 22nd ranked Missouri Tigers. Troy is 16th in the nation with 307.0 passing yards per game and are putting up 35.0 points per game.

Series History: Troy took a 4-3 lead in the all-time series after winning 38-17 last season.

Game Prediction: I like Troy to come away with their first Sun Belt win of the season and for them to cover the 15 point spread.

YTD College Football Results: 18-13
