SMU Mustangs vs Florida Atlantic Owls – Boca Raton Bowl Preview & Pick

The 6th Boca Raton Bowl will feature the home team for the second time ever as the Florida Atlantic Owls host the SMU Mustangs. SMU has never competed in this bowl and Florida Atlantic won this bowl game, 50-3 vs Akron, back in 2017. Florida Atlantic will be without head coach Lane Kiffin who accepted the head coaching gig at Ole Miss.

SMU finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall record and a 6-2 record in the American conference. The Mustangs missed out on a conference championship game appearance by just one game. SMU is bowling for the first time since 2017 and is looking for their first bowl win since 2012. The Mustangs have a 7-8-1 overall record in bowls.

Florida Atlantic ended the 2019 regular season with a 10-3 overall record, a 7-1 conference record, a C-USA – East championship and a C-USA Championship Game win. The Owls are bowling for the first time since 2017 and will look to win their fourth consecutive bowl game. FAU is 3-0 all-time in bowl games.
