An interesting ACC battle is on the schedule Saturday, October 17, 2020, when the Pittsburgh Panthers (3-2, 2-2) visit the #13 Miami Hurricanes (3-1, 2-1). Miami is tied for fifth in the ACC standings and Pittsburgh sits alone in ninth place through for ACC games. This game will air live on the ACC Network at 12:00 p.m. EST.
Through five games, the Pittsburgh offense is averaging 31.6 points per game and 409.6 yards per game, 284.2 through the air and 125.4 on the ground. Defensively, the Panthers are allowing 18.2 points and 263.4 yards, 211.4 passing and 52.0 rushing.
The Miami offense has been solid in 2020 as they are averaging 36.8 points per game and 426.8 yards per game, 230.3 through the air and 196.5 on the ground. Defensively, the Hurricanes are allowing 25.0 points and 420.3 yards, 245.8 passing and 174.5 rushing.
Below is my pick for the Pittsburgh Panthers at #13 Miami Hurricanes. All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Pittsburgh Panthers at #13 Miami Hurricanes (-10.5): O/U 52 (-110/-110)
Last time out, Pittsburgh visited the Boston College Eagles and suffered a disappointing 31-30 overtime defeat. The worst part of the loss is that it came on a missed extra point by kicker Alex Kessman, who nailed a 58-yard field goal to put the game into overtime. QB Kenny Pickett threw for 266 yards two touchdowns, one interception, and added 36 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. The Pitt offense had 371 total yards and the defense forced one Boston College turnover.
Miami had their first test of the season, when they visited the top ranked Clemson Tigers, and the Hurricanes came up short as they fell 42-17. Clemson jumped out to a quick 21-3 lead and were never threatened again as the Tigers led by 25 for most of the second half. QB D’Eriq King was poor passing the ball as he went 12/28 for 121 yards and two interceptions. King was good on the ground as the dual threat QB rushed the ball 14 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. The Miami offense had just 210 total yards and turned the ball over three times.
Series History: Miami has won the last two meetings between these two schools and leads the all-time series 27-11-1.
Football Picks: This line seems too high for me, so I am backing Pittsburgh +10.5 Saturday afternoon.
