The game of the day in the Big Ten Conference is #13 Wisconsin at #3 Ohio State, but perhaps the most interesting game is #6 Penn State 7-0 (4-0) travels to East Lansing to take on the Michigan State Spartans 4-3 (2-2). It always tough to go on the road at this point in the season and a Michigan State team with some talent will be looking to upend Penn State’s season and start a good run of fortune for themselves.
#6 Penn State needs to keep pace with #3 Ohio State if the Nittany Lions want to setup a potential win-and-your-in game between the two schools on November 23rd. PSU is currently 4-0 in the Big Ten which is tied with the Buckeyes for first in the Big Ten East. Michigan State is not playing for much more than pride at this point as the Spartans are 2-2 in the Big Ten and already have a loss to Ohio State.
Below is my pick for #6 Penn State at Michigan State. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.
#6 Penn State Nittany Lions (-6.5) at Michigan State Spartans: O/U 44.5 points (-110/-110)
#6 Penn State continued their perfect start to 2019 with a 28-21 home win over then #16 Michigan last weekend. PSU came out hot and took a 21-0 lead early in the game, but Michigan did all it could to come back and had a chance to tie it in the 4th quarter. The Nittany Lions did not play anyone the first half of the season, but now have back-to-back wins over then #17 Iowa, two weeks back, and followed that with the victory over Michigan last weekend. Penn State is 3-3-1 ATS and the under has hit in four of their seven games this season.
Michigan State had a well needed bye week last week after the Spartans had fallen in back-to-back games at then #4 Ohio State, 34-10, followed by a loss at then #8 Wisconsin 38-0. Sparty is struggling this season and still have just one win over a team with a winning record – MSU beat Indiana 40-31 three games back. Michigan State has an easier schedule to end the season, so they do not need this win to ensure a bowl appearance, but it would be a bonus for MSU to end Penn State’s championship aspirations. Michigan State is 2-5 ATS and the under has hit in four of their seven games this season.
Series History: Michigan State now leads the all-time series 17-15-1 after winning the last two games between these two schools.
Game Prediction: Michigan State keeps this one close for a while, but Penn State pulls away at the end and wins by a touchdown. Back Penn State at -6.5.
