Northern Illinois at Toledo

The MAC will be in the spotlight Wednesday night as the 3-6 Northern Illinois Huskies travel to Ohio take on the 6-3 Toledo Rockets.

Northern Illinois sits in 5th place in the MAC – West, but are just one game back in the loss column of division leading Western Michigan. The Huskies need to win all three of their remaining games to become bow eligible for the third consecutive season. Toledo currently sit in fourth place in the MAC – West, but are level on losses, with one less win, with division leader Western Michigan. The Rockets will be bowling for the sixth consecutive season.

Below is my pick for the Northern Illinois Huskies at the Toledo Rockets. All lines are from the PointsBet Sportsbook.

Northern Illinois Huskies at Toledo Rockets (-2.5): O/U 55 points (-110/-110)

Northern Illinois had Week 10 off, but the Huskies will be ready to get back on the field after 48-10 loss, to Central Michigan, two weeks back. The Huskies have alternated wins and losses since getting into conference play and still have not won two games in a row in 2019. After starting the season with a win over Illinois State, Northern Illinois lost four straight games and are now fighting a very uphill battle to get to a bowl game. In conference play NIU has wins over Ohio and Akron, but have lost to Ball State, Miami (Ohio) and Central Michigan. The Huskies are 5-5 against the spread and the over has hit in five of their nine games.

Toledo has rocketed their way up the MAC – West standing after extending their winning streak to two games with a 35-33 win over Kent State last week. The Rockets held a 28-17 lead heading into the half, but were held scoreless in third quarter and Kent State made it a game. The Golden Flashes had a chance to tie the game, after scoring a touchdown with five minutes left in the fourth, but the Toledo defense stuffed a two-point conversion attempt to hold on for the win. Toledo has wins over Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Kent State, but have fallen to Bowling Green and Ball State. The Rockets are 4-5 against the spread and the over has hit in five of their nine games.

Series History: Toledo leads the all-time series 31-15, but it was Northern Illinois who came away with a 38-15 win last season.

Game Prediction: I like Toledo to improve to 7-3 with at least a touchdown win. Back the Rockets -2.5 Wednesday night.

YTD College Football Results: 37-32-1
