Michigan State Spartans vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons – Pinstripe Bowl Preview & Pick

The 10th Pinstripe Bowl, in Yankee Stadium, will feature an interesting battle between the Big Ten’s Michigan State and the ACC’s Wake Forest Demon Deacons. This will be the first appearance for both teams in this bowl.

Michigan State finished the regular season with a 6-6 overall record and a 4-5 record in the Big Ten. The Spartans will be bowling for the third straight season and will look to rebound from an ugly 7-6 loss last bowl season. MSU is 12-16 all-time in bowl games.

The Demon Deacons finished the 2019 regular season with an 8-4 overall record and a 4-4 record in the ACC. Wake Forest will be bowling for the fourth straight season and are currently riding a three game winning streak in bowls. The Deacs have a 9-4 all-time record in bowls.

Below is my pick for the Pinstripe Bowl between the Michigan State Spartans and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. All lines are from the DraftKings Sportsbook.

Michigan State (-4.5) vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons: O/U 49 points (-110/-110)

Michigan State finished the 2019 regular season with a tight 19-16 win, over Maryland, to become bowl eligible. The Terps were leading at the end of the third quarter, but two fourth quarter field goals got the Spartans over the finish line. Sparty finished 2019 on a two game winning streak. The Spartans went 2-3 away from East Lansing this season. Michigan State is 3-9 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 12 games this season.

Wake Forest finished the regular season with a disappointing road loss to the 5-7 Syracuse Orange. The Deacs sent the game to OT with a field goal as time expired, but Syracuse hit a FG, then scooped a fumble up for a TD, to win 39-30. Wake Forest lost three of their final four games in 2019. Away from Winston-Salem, the Deacs went 2-3 with no notable wins. Wake Forest is 5-6-1 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 12 games this season.

Series History: These two teams have never met before.
