The 21st LendingTree Bowl is the final bowl game before the National Championship Game and features a really interesting MAC vs Sun Belt matchup. MAC Champions, Miami Ohio RedHawks, take on Sun Belt Conference runners-up, Louisiana Rajin’ Cajuns. The RedHawks are 2-0 in Mobile, while Louisiana is making their first appearance in this bowl.
The Louisiana Rajin’ Cajuns ended 2019 with a 10-3 overall record, a 7-1 Sun Belt record, and an appearance in the Sun Belt Championship Game. Louisiana is bowling for the second straight season and will look to end their tow game skid in bowl games. The Rajin’ Cajuns are officially 2-2 all-time in bowl games, but also had two bowl wins vacated due to sanctions.
The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks ended the regular season with an 8-5 overall record, a 6-2 MAC conference record, and a MAC Championship Game win. Miami is bowling for the first time since 2016 and are looking for their first bowl win since 2010. The RedHawks are 7-4 all-time in bowl games.
Below is my pick for the LendingTree Bowl between the Louisiana Rajin’ Cajuns and the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.
Louisiana Rajin’ Cajuns (-14) vs Miami (OH) RedHawks: O/U 55.5 points (-110/-110)
Louisiana went to the Sun Belt Championship and fell 45-38 to Appalachian State in a game that was not as close as the final score. App State got up 42-17 midway through the third quarter, but took their foot off the pedal a little and ended up giving up 14 of the final 17 points to make this game seem close. The Rajin’ Cajuns won six of their final seven games and two of their three overall losses came to App State this season. Louisiana is 5-1 away from Lafayette this season. ULL is 9-4 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.
The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks fought back from a 14-10 halftime deficit to win the MAC Championship Game over Central Michigan. Miami scored 16 of the final 23 points to get the win 26-21 and lift their first conference title since 2010.The RedHawks won six of their final seven games and went 3-5 away from Oxford. Miami (OH) is 6-7 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.
Series History: These two have not met since 1993, but Miami (OH) leads the all-time series 2-0.
Free Prediction: I like Louisiana-Lafayette -14 in this one.
