The game of Week 10 takes place in the SEC as Cocktail Party on tap for Saturday. The #8 Georgia Bulldogs and the #6 Florida Gators will play in Jacksonville for the 97th, or 98th, time in their history. Other SEC matchups on the week are Mississippi State at Arkansas, Ole Miss at #11 Auburn and Vanderbilt at South Carolina.
This is a crucial game in the SEC East race as Florida currently sits at the top spot with a 4-1 conference record while Georgia sits right behind them at 3-1. The winner of this game will have the upper hand of getting to Atlanta.
Below is my pick for #8 Georgia vs #6 Florida. All lines are from the William Hill Sportsbook.
#8 Georgia Bulldogs (-6) vs #6 Florida Gators: O/U 45 points (-110/-110) – Game is in Jacksonville
#8 Georgia return to the field after a bye week and now look to beat rival Florida to get their season back on track. Georgia’s playoff hopes took a big hit with a 20-17 home loss over South Carolina, a few weeks back, but bounced back to beat Kentucky 21-0 before the bye week. The Bulldogs have faced one ranked team so far this season and they came away with a 23-17 home win over then #7 Notre Dame. Georgia is 3-4 ATS and the under has hit five of their seven games this season.
#6 Florida also had a bye week last week and, like Georgia, are still trying to keep their playoff hopes alive with a win Saturday. Florida lost on the road to then #5 LSU, a few weeks back, but bounced back to beat South Carolina 38-27 before heading into their bye. The Gators have played two Top 10 teams this season and came away with a win over then #7 Auburn to go along with that road loss to LSU. Florida is 4-2-2 ATS and the under has hit in four of the seven games with a total.
Series History: Depending on which school you ask, either Georgia leads the all-time series 51-43-2 or 52-43-2. Georgia has won the last two meetings between these two.
Game Prediction: I like the Georgia Bulldogs to take a big step in keeping their playoff hopes alive this weekend. Back Georgia -6 Saturday afternoon.
