Clemson Tigers vs Ohio State Buckeyes – Fiesta Bowl Pick & Preview

The second College Football Playoffs semifinal game is the big one as the #3 Clemson Tigers take on the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. This game will take place in Glendale, Arizona and is a rematch of the 2016 Fiesta Bowl when #2 Clemson beat #3 Ohio State 31-0.

Clemson will be making their fifth appearance in the College Football Playoffs, fifth in a row, and are looking to defend their championship from last season. The Tigers have won two of the last three College Football Playoff championships. Clemson recorded their fourth 13-win season in their last five years.

Ohio State will be making their third appearance in the College Football Playoffs, but their first since the 2016 season. The Buckeyes won the first ever College Football Playoff championship when they beat Oregon 42-20 back in 2015. Ohio State recorded their second consecutive 13 win season this season.

Below is my pick for the Fiesta Bowl featuring the #3 Clemson Tigers vs the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes. All lines are from the BetMGM Sportsbook.

#3 Clemson Tigers (-2) vs #2 Ohio State Buckeyes: O/U 63 points (-110/-110)

Clemson wrapped up their undefeated regular season with a 62-17 rout of Virginia in the ACC Championship game. The Tigers are rolling through everyone at the moment as they have now won eight straight games by at least 30 points and won 11 of their 13 games by 30+ points. Away from Clemson, the Tigers went 6-0 and won five of those game by 35+ points. Clemson is 10-3 against the spread and the under has hit in seven of their 13 games this season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes wrapped up their undefeated regular season with a 34-21 comeback win over the Wisconsin Badgers. Ohio State trailed 21-7 at the half, but outscored the Badgers 27-0 in the second half to have an easy double digit victory. The Buckeyes won every game this season by at least 11 points. Away from Columbus, Ohio State went 6-0 and won four of those games by at least 29 points. Ohio State is 9-4 against the spread and both the over and under has hit six times this season.

Series History: These teams have played three times in the past and Clemson has won all three meetings. Clemson won 31-0 back in 2016, 40-35 in 2014 and 17-15 in 1978.

Game Prediction: I like Clemson to make it back to the championship game. I am backing the Tigers -2 in the CFP semifinal.
